I’m embarrassed to say that Hubby and I have made an impulse pet store purchase. Now before you all get too excited, it’s not a bunny (although there was an adorable baby bun there that looked just like Oscar). We went there to get cat food, had a look around and saw this little guy. He was all alone and super friendly, he acted a lot more interested in us than they usually do. We both agreed that he was sweet and left. Then we went to try a new Mexican restaurant, had a couple of beers and one thing led to the other…

So here he is:

His name is Bubbles .

And don’t worry, him and Oscar will be kept completely separate.

Did you recently introduce that area? Because whenever I bring Muffin in a new area he leaves a lot of “Muffin waz here” graffiti too! Lol, little tornadoes

….. SO CUTE!  Why do ferrets have to be such ferocious predators…  I remember when I was little our ferret.  He was so old and so sweet.  So sad when he passed.  I couldn’t imagine something that cute being able to kill!  But then again, I wasn’t the one who had to trim his claws lol!

Cute!  They are the best of both worlds… Like a cat and a dog, and so mischievous.  

One of my ferrets stole my bothers new package of long underwear on Christmas, and hid it under the bed.  Another one of my ferrets used to love running along the back of the tub, so he could knock all of the shampoo bottles into the tub.  Another one used to terrorize my brothers Pomeranian by stealing her toys… While yet another used to follow me around the house… Sleep with me, and had a stash of goodies in her hammock. 

Yeah… I had four at one time.  Two I bought… Two were rescues.

Hazel your ferret baby is adorable it looks like my ferret from the past his name was Odin. I love ferrets and had them for many years.

For the first time since I’ve been reading BB, there was a thread that truly upset me. One of the posts had me so angry that I felt sick. Had to put my phone down and stop reading for a while. When I came back a bit later, the first thing I saw was Bubbles. I’m generally a bunny and dog person, but I have to say that Bubbles is absolutely adorable! Cheered me right up! I really needed that — thank you for sharing that pic!

I wanted to tell my boss the news today, but she didn’t come in until really late. Then she was busy and then I was busy and then I ended up leaving late. So I never got a chance to tell her. I’m worried about what she will say too. I don’t want them to think I’m abandoning them. I would never do that!

AndHenry: So true! I’m at that stage now, I keep telling Hubby “I can’t believe we did this!!” He has always wanted a ferret though, so it’s nice he finally got it even though it wasn’t planned.

HECA: Wow, 4 ferrets! Sounds like they kept you on your toes! Neither one of us knows a whole lot (if anything) about ferrets, so when we got Bubbles home we started to get worried that something was wrong with him when he would stumble and tumble around, drag his hind feet and just generally seemed a little “off”. We have since learned that that’s just how ferrets roll! When he’s not sleepy he gets around just fine, and tries to play fight with anyone and anything! I guess we worried for nothing .

Sindriona: That’s funny he looks like your Odin . Do you know what you call this color/pattern? I’ve tried to figure it out and think he might be a silver but I’m not sure… The picture doesn’t show his color that well but as soon as someone gets a picture thread started I will probably post a better one.

Retrosquid: I think you’re right, he is already promising to be a lot of trouble. I just saw your thread about losing your ferret, I’m so sorry to hear that. I feel bad now for getting all this ferret talk started, I hope it didn’t upset you more.

Just to put everyone’s minds at ease (I hope you don’t mind JR), I ‘think’ I know which thread/post JR is referring to and I agree and understand why it upset her so much if I’m right? I wanted to mention this in case anyone thought/worried it was one of ‘us’ who said something wrong – it isn’t.

I’m sure your current employer will understand that you’ve been given the opportunity to move on and up with your career LBJ, and hopefully they will be proud of you and wish nothing but the best of luck for your future.

I’m literally not abandoning them. I will still work there. I don’t want to give it up because the last time I gave up a job, I got burned really bad. Since this new job I got isn’t forever, I’m not going to give up my current job completely. I plan to still work there, I just won’t be available to work all the time during school hike season. My “regular” days are just two days a week. I just don’t want them to be mad at me when I tell them that because I know they are short people. =\

@ Hazel. You will find out that ferrets have HUGE personalities.  Though get into lots of trouble, but it’s the funny kind.  Mine were free roam and I LOVED them.  They could do no wrong. 

Also a tip…  If you bathe them once a week… It keeps the musky smell down. 

I warned my husband when I brought Butters (my bun) home, that he was NOT to steal my bunny!  He had a chance to bring home one of his own.  

I knew right away when he started talking about how they were going to watch hockey together that things weren’t going to go my way.  Then he didn’t want to leave him alone in the car while we went to get supplies. NOW… He has Butters jumping up on the couch with him to chill, get pets, binky…   He is WELL on his way to stealing my bun.  Butters even waits for him on the couch.   Last night he said, “I think Butters should come to work with me tomorrow.”  I was all like —>   Then he says… “I think tomorrow is take your bun to work day.” 

Good thing I’m the one who’s here 24/7!  And he’s the one who didn’t want another bun. 

The other day I saw Muffin running down the Hallway. And by “hallway” I mean the one we have blocked off so humans carrying heavy stuff can get through without running a bunny gauntlet… He’s a Holland lop… How can an itsy-bitsy bunny tackle down a BABY GATE??? Ah well, new gate is on the way. He was pretty cheesed when I brought him back to his own room/hallway/part of my house I will never reclaim from his lordship Muffin the great.

So….. It’s finally getting warmer… Up here in Canada, it’s ABOUT TIME for Spring!

Hazel I believe you are right that your ferret is a silver. Its been along time since I had Odin and he also had a brother named Thor who was also that color. These 2 were the first I ever bought from a breeder. My other ferrets I purchased and adopted another from a co-worker of my husband who no longer wanted hers. These two got really big and were kind of on the mean side. Odin was a biter who didn’t want to let go. He was so cute though. I love ferrets and wouldn’t mind owning one again but my husband says no. They are funny little creatures and do all kinds of different things. We had one that would take socks and hide them under the couch and he would nap on them. We had one that would steal food and hide it around the house.

Muffinluv I figured out that no matter how much space and access to newer areas I give my bunnies its never enough for them. They want to take over the whole house. I wish I could let them but Usagi has to chew on everything and Kilala seems to be starting that habit as well. Silly buns.

We have some good news to share!

New bunny a few days before Easter, coincidental timing, didn’t get her from a pet shop or anything.

Also, got a letter that the sketchy issues on my mammogram from last month prove to be a non issue! whew!

Weather is perfect and though I ran outside just before Sunrise today to wash my face in May Day dew…there was none. I do live in the desert but occasionally on May Day we do get lucky. So no magical beauty for me this year.

Linette – Oh boy, lot’s of good news for you! So why has no one heard of this mystery bunny before now?

Today was certainly interesting. I was working with the vultures again. The one I have been “training” is actually doing quite well at going to whatever spot I direct her to. So I’m pretty happy about that. I’m hoping other people will be able to benefit from this as well. It was really poopie and cold out today though, so I didn’t do a lot outside.
I had planned on talking to my boss today. I told her I had something I needed to speak to her about and she said she would be down (I was working in a different building today) later so we could talk. She never showed. I called and they said she had to leave suddenly. So I still haven’t told her and I’m starting to get rather jittery about it. =\

Roberta — Got on the laptop instead of my phone so I was just able to see the pic of Nomi. Beautiful bunny! Your bathroom looks like my hallway after Kieko’s been around! Lots and lots of little presents!

HAZEL, OMGGGG <3 HE'S SOOOOOOOO CUTE! I used to have a ferret - and he was the cutest, funnest little thing ever. He had his own room and when I was home, he had free-roam of the house. My boyfriend could not be convinced of one when we were searching for a pet.... which is great because that's how we eventually stumbled upon rabbits! <img src='/DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/BB_Theme//emoticons/tongue.gif' align="absmiddle" border="0" /> <br /> <br /> This is my last week of the semester (ends the 9th) and then I have break until the the 18th! <img src='/DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/BB_Theme//emoticons/smile.gif' align="absmiddle" border="0" /> Then it's back for a 4 class summer semester. EWWWW. My replacement finally was hired and came to work this week so I've been transitioning between jobs now too! I feel so exhausted when I come back home from work. <br /> <br /> We made the decision to switch the bun litter from CareFresh to pine pellets, big Revolution going on in the house right now between us all. Also, we bought Sherwood Forest pellets, I think we are going to switch but I'm still waiting to hear back from my vet on her opinion! <br />

Heca — That is exactly what we call unauthorized bunny time in my house . . . the time that the hubby spends with *my* bunnies and does things that invariably win them over (this includes unauthorized ear rubs, unauthorized treats, unauthorized naps and cuddles, etc.)!

Oh so I’m not the ONLY one? Hmm… Maybe I should make a schedule… He gets 10 mins a day MAX.

Awww I LOVE ferrets!! We used to have two a mother and daughter. When the mother (so sweet used to love sleeping in my bra) passed of old age, daughter passed about a month after (she was so sad) we were trying to find her a new buddy but the vet says its common when ferrets are so close. I never had the heart to get another.
On a good note! Princess and Shadow just got back from their first vet visit (the bill made me ill $187!!!) and they are both perfectly healthy happy (fairly spoiled) GIRLS!!! The sounds and sneezing I had been worried about are nothing according to the vet. They have clear sounding lungs no infections and he said the sneezing is probably due to either our central heating or the hay dust. He says after a humidifier and a change in hay brands doesn’t fix it to bring them back but he’s confident we won’t have to!

Heca I totally know what you mean my boyfriend fought me tooth and nail about getting two rabbits. One he was like ugh ok two he fought against till he got some playtime. Now BOTH bunnies get excited when HE comes home. I get back from class and they’re just like eh yeah clean our cages slave. I think he sneaks them treats when im not looking.

Aw guys!!! It’s only the second day of May and we are already on page 2? Crap. Lol I have some catching up to do.

But last night I got some news and I’m too excited to contain myself! I get to see Harper on the 23rd!!!!! Her and her parents are coming up to michigan for a mini vacation and are stopping by! I seriously can’t wait for the next few weeks to fly by

BunnyLady, I used to be a long time user of the monthly chats & have disappeared back and forth since doing school & work full-time. So I apologize for not knowing… but who’s Harper??!?!?

I kind of have to giggle at all of the significant others stealing the buns, my boyfriend is just as in love with them as me. They all have him wrapped around their little paws, although I’m the one who always ends up doing the dirty work! We both only meant to get one (and decided together)… but now we have six. And the last three were ALLL his fault! The fifth one he brought home while I was at work after we saw her in a pet store a week before Easter, she was a wreck. We were going to give it a day or two and then come back and see if they had given her treatment yet. So my boyfriend dropped me off at work and when he picked me back up… welp, we had Nora. We meant to foster her as well for our local rescue, Rabbit Wranglers, but that didn’t work out so well either. Lacey, our sixth one, he was dropping me off at our humane society to volunteer for the Bunny Romp and came in to say hello to the buns…. and well, long story short, he walked out with Lacey! LOLLLLL. We are actually in the process of ***Considering*** a 7th! We are trying to go through our schedules & times to see if we have the ability to give another rabbit the time & attention it deserves. We want to really make a good decision since the other ones were pretty much all impulse! Except for the first & and the fourth.

My semester with school is almost coming to an end – I have to finish four of my classes by Wednesday & the other one ends Sunday. Well, that’s when my finals & finishing of projects are all due. I do all on-line so it’s a bit different than actually having classes to go to. I get a week off and then I start my summer courses. Sigh. My boyfriend got me this great book that I’m going to try and read in between. It’s all about time management, taking notes, study habits, and the such since I have really been struggling to find time for work and school and ME time as well. I DO have the time, I just need to better manage it and buckle myself down. It’s an interactive book with exercise to help you so I”m hoping it does actually help! He spent some time searching for a great one for me so I bet it will be helpful!

Also….. My boyfriend vacuumed Nora. For those of you who don’t know… Nora is my gray Lionhead who sheds…. year round. And has about three TERRIBLE molts around the year as well. Right now she is molting. And it’s terrible. Neither of us want to hold her because she’s a total mess. Soooooo he vacuumed her. LOL. We have read it around BB a million times but never tried it. She hated it but it helped. And I’m pretty positive she has some impaired hearing issues so she pretty much just hated the feeling. LOL. Oy. I was like “YOU WHAT?!??!?!?!” …. jeeez.

I have vacuumed Leopold before. Since he can’t hear the vacuum, he doesn’t seem to really mind. As long as I don’t get his whiskers that is.

Lol my rabbits would never tolerate being vaccuumed but I can imagine the bunny death glare he got. I have two rexes and I honestly don’t know if I’ll have that problem at all much less as bad as a lion head.
More good news…I finally got two more litter boxes to place around our bedroom and both our buns have really taken to them. They even stopping peeing on our bed!!! Woot!!!! And we had our first interaction between buns and my pitt and they all got along great! We had Hades (our scaredy cat red nose pit bull rescue) on his leash and let the buns run around our room and they hopped on him and around him. Princess played with his tail which he didnt mind, and shadow even got a suprise “grooming” from Hades. No incidents and Princess is already very attached and is attempting to follow Hades everywhere. If anything Hades was the only one skittish and intimidated at first lol.

I told my boss today. Finally. She seemed excited for me and said I would be stupid to let this opportunity go.

I think I got quite a bit of stuff done today. I made a special trip out to where I work to get this project done. I forgot my husband’s tool that I borrowed out there. I’m hoping it doesn’t disappear before I get back there Monday. =\

I’ve never intentionally vac’d any of my bunnies, but Moshi has gotten a little too close a few times! Silly bunny loves our shop vac. Stuck his face in the nozzle once. I thought that scared him enough not to try again. Nope. When I run it and he’s around I have to keep one hand on him and vac with the other! I’ve gotten a little too close to his rear end — luckily he thought I was playing!

My husband has vacccumed our dog. (put in a white kitchen floor then got a black dog that sheds year round — what were we thinking??!!)

VAcuuming bunnies.  Cotton would have none of it.  

Boyfriend stealing bunny.   Cotton has nothing to do with anyone but me.  If I am holding cotton and hubby pets him cotton shows his displeasure by digging on my shoulder.  Cotton only begs hubby and takes treat and runs off to eat it.  Thats it.  A one person bunny.  He does not like males at all.  Doesn’t like females either just a little more than males. 

Ferrets  I didn’t know they were so mischieviously fun.  

phone spell corrector.   I texted hubby that I would take cotton for a run later.  I must have misspelled it cuz phone put…..  I am going to take tablecloth for a run later.     hahahahahahaha     Can you see me putting a leash on a table cloth and running around my neighborhood with it.  My neighbors be talking saying gosh that kawthar really lost her mind.   

Oh and I texted my religious group.  Maimouna my friend hubby was in hospital and I just found out her  # doesn’t work.  I put no wonder I  haven’t heard from Maimouna.   My phone turned her name into marijuana.  OMG   Was so embarrassed.  stupid phone. hahahahahaha.  My friends were laughing so hard.  My friend texted back Kawthar stay away from spell corrector I heard it was hard stuff hahahahahahaha   

I must say I do not do illegal drugs  I have enuf script meds I don’t need more.  Nor do I drink.  I have enuf script meds. I love my kidneys and stomache in healthy working order. 

OMG, Marijuana instead of Maimouna, that’s so funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And the tablecloth… I’m trying to picture that. I would definitely think you had lost your marbles.

Ferrets are SO much fun! Mine was the worst. Be careful though, Hazel! I’m not sure what you are using for housing but mine figured out how to open the latch on his cage door. I searched for him for two days before I found him in my oven sleeping. I just about had a heart attack thinking “what if for some reason I had decided to make dinner and preheated the oven….” Never turned my oven on again without looking inside first…. He used to also ride around the house on my Bengal’s back.. him and my Bengal, Momo, got along So well! Finally I just let the ferret, Leonard, have free roam of the house with Momo. LOL

So in case anyone is wondering, I’m not terribly happy with the Asus Transformer Book I bought. It is very frustrating and keeps giving me error messages (only had it a month). I’m going to call Newegg tomorrow to see if anything can be done.

*sigh* They said I would have to ship my computer in for them to fix. I could be without a computer for a couple weeks.

I’m also freaking out about my new job. My husband doesn’t care and would rather avoid me. I went in to fill out paperwork today and then I followed my new boss to where my “office” would be to talk about some things. Anyway, I had explained during the interview that I could not officially start until the end of the month when hike season was over. Everyone seemed okay with it. Well today I was being told I need to figure out how to start right away because this event that needs to be planned is a month away. I don’t really have time to come in during normal business hours because I got written in for a ton of hikes after a bunch of people bailed. I felt pressed to say yes though and I will be spending an entire day there Friday (my only day off this week, I have to work over the weekend).

Oh LBJ, I really have no advice but I am sorry you are in such a stressful situation. *sigh*

It’s okay. I’m just highly emotional right now because I was already feeling apprehensive and then I felt like my new boss was being forceful. I was not expecting to have to fit in a bunch of time there before I had said I was available to start. =\

Oh no, LBJ That’s horrible…. I know what you mean about feeling stressed and not having enough time. I’m on my wits end between full-time school & full-time job. So much so that I went to see a psychologist about stress management…. she basically told me I’m insane & need to drop at least two of the four summer classes I had scheduled & rethink my 6 class courseload next semester. She said I was lucky I hadn’t exploded yet. Today was my first session and I literally cried when I deleted my two other classes… I’m such a baby! But I know she’s right. As badly as I want to finish ASAP (really…. for no reason she pointed out because I’m already in the career field I want to remain in)…. there is no use in me being this stressed. My poor boyfriend gets the brunt of it.

For example, I just took my exam for my Accounting class (FINALLY DONE with that one!). Did I mention it’s 2AM here? I also have to finish my Accounting homework to be completely done with the class which hopefully wont’ take more than 15-20 minutes. Then I have another exam to finish for Algebra…. THEN I have 2nd Algebra exam I need to finish before Wed at midnight. Also have the chapter questions (which is 23 pages of questions) to do before Wednesday night as well. A 2 page paper to do AND last but not least….. my Business Management exam to take. All before midnight tomorrow (Wed). I have another exam due as well but it’s not due til Sunday so I haven’t even began studying… I really do just want to explode right now…

My boyfriend is away on a business trip in Florida as well and the bunnies have gotten about ZERO attention. So last night I slept on the floor with them and let them run around and jump on me while I “slept”. I just felt too bad not interacting with them and they love to climb around on me so I figured… whats one more sacrifice? I’m hoping to at least get an hour or two of sleep tonight but I have to be up at 6:30 for work… Ugh.

Welp, this was my break from studying so it’s back to the books for me. Wish me luckkk. I need it

I’ve never had council come to my house, I have always had and paid for 3 dog’s registration (the max limit allowed) but had 4 till Molly passed away a few years back and never had an issue as they didn’t know. I just think if you are a responsible pet owner – I tell my dog’s to shush if they bark, clean up after them so my yard doesn’t smell, and never let them loose outside of our yard or cause any concern for the neighbours to ‘dob’ us in, I’ve never worried. And if council came to my house I would never let them inside my home for any reason (same for anyone uninvited). Tomorrow we are having the seals on our fridge replaced and he is turning up at 11am – Henry will be asleep under my bed and we will close the door to our room till the fridge guy leaves. As for Henry’s house ‘set up’ in the dining room, if it gets brought up – YEP, we have an indoor guinea pig! No one has ever raised an eyebrow at us.
And $44,000? I thought the fine was $30,000? God forbid Roberta (and I’m sure I’ve already told you this…), if we were to ever get caught, expect a package in the post, he he heh he….. But I am confident we won’t get caught, cause I’m sure people get caught because they ‘talk’ or neighbours can see? My whole fence line is surrounded by thick gardens, you’d need to set up a ladder (a bit obvious) to see into our yard let alone our house…..

HECA: Thank you for the tip about the bath! We are going to give him one today and boy does he need one… I hope he won’t freak out.

tanlover: You had a ferret too, how fun! What a story with him sleeping in the oven , I’m so glad you found him before turning it on!!! I love how Leonard was best friends with your Bengal. We hope Lily and Bubbles will become good buddies as well. We think a ferret is the perfect friend for her, other than another cat of course. Although I don’t think a “normal” cat would put up with her antics. Bubbles will share Lily’s room. She didn’t like him at first but now she’s starting to warm up to him. As for housing, right now he’s staying in our old gerbil tank. The day after we brought him home I built him his very own NIC condo. It is the first one I ever built, nothing fancy but I’m happy with it. After I slaved away at it all day I was so excited to put him in. Turns out he’s so small he can fit through the holes… As you can imagine, I was quite disappointed . So for now he stays in the tank, hopefully he will grow quickly so he can move into the condo.

Does anyone watch  “My Cat From Hell”   Its interesting.  Its cool when Jason  Jasper whatever the fellows name is(sorry) mentions body language.  We see the same thing.  Isn’t it neat when you have learned your cats, dogs, rabbits, etc body language, then see someone validating it on tv.  

Its funny.  My friend was there and I had Cotton.  I said “Cotton says he wants to go run”  My friend said ” He said that.  You heard him?”  I told her I read his body language and explained what body language n movement he was doing to tell me he wanted down so he could run outside.  My friend calmed down and we started talking animal body language. She agreed.  She has had dachsunds and has one now so she now understands what is going on when I say Cotton says  hahahaha.  I guess I scared her. 

Where I live there are elderly  and health problems and some of the people don’t have cars etc. The stores are fairly close. They go to store take a cart back cuz they can’t carry stuff home. OK I can see that. However no one takes  a cart back to the store and use same one. They go without cart and keep bringing them back.  We end up with 100 cart. No kidding. I have been bringing them to the shopping lot across the street. Too much on my back n knee where I had the surgeries. Oh I hurt.  2 others bring carts to 1 grocery store. The other 2 are too far to bring 5 back at one time. I tell myself why affect my health bringing them from our place to across the street 2 at a time total or 6-8 a day. Then I see them all piled up and get frustrated and bring 4 today. Its all we can do. Housing has tried to discourage it. Publix bought more carts so they don’t pick them up anymore.  OH well whatever. 

I saw the biggest roach this morning. I screamed.  It was at least 1 1/2 inches long. An Asian or an outdoor roach.  Had to have come from outside. It isn’t the usual one I see in here. No way was I squishing it. I grabbed the spray and zapped it. Got papertowel and well 

That sugar and baking soda do work. I sprinkle water on the paper plates I put the stuff on too. Things have improved so much with those bugs.  I quit using the sugar mix and haven’t seen anymore dead ones. I am putting it out again. 

Cotton is getting tired of cauliflour.  I forgot to get romaine for him last week.  So I got myself to the store this morning and got some for him.  Yep special trip bus and walked home just for Cotton.  Spoilt or what. 

I love my cat from hell! They guy’s name is Jackson Galaxy.
Remember, if Henry ever gets deported, he is MINE!

I raised my son well though. He’s eighteen and we had to go into PetCo for hay. He now wants a guinea pig, so we’re going to watch the shelters.

@ jackrabbit. I didn’t have to work too hard to get the hubby to go with the plan. He has a new job, and he works LONG hours. So…. butters follows me all day.

@ Tanlover… Why did he not get video of this vacuuming incident. Lol

Why do I keep picking rabbits that want to eat cat food? Does anyone else have this problem? :/

I bought some cat food for a stray cat. The bunnies are VERY interested.

oh good! Well… You know what I mean.

I always had to put the cat food up or Peanut would be right in it…. Now I’ve caught Butters munching away. Silly rabbit… 

@tanlover: holy cow I feel your pain, my student advisor wanted me to add 2 MORE years onto my schooling just because im a volunteer firefighter AND mom AND I work full time. I said absolutely not I want this done with and I handle it….well….ok I guess. Lol my boyfriend is very understanding of my sudden outbursts or breakdowns lol he’s awesome.
Finals are here for us too. I’m also on a study break I have a microbiology final tomorrow at 11 (after working my 10pm to 10am shift) as well as my chemistry final and college algebra plus an online final for clay appreciation and another for diet and nutrition due tonight (thank god my boss will give me a break to take them if I dont finish them) I’m now writing a 5 page paper for my history class due tonight and then the take home final on thursday after another 12 night shift. Maybe we are crazy but it’ll be so worth it when we have those degrees in hand….I hope….right? Lol

@heca: yes he’s like my dad…very adamant about no pets this no animals that. But I know if he just meets them he has a soft spot and cant say no. Lol. And it never fails any animals we bring home he says is mine but they always end up lovin on him more. When we first met I had a cat who literally HATED everyone but me and would attach people for no reason. So I warned him when he came to visit the first time. He came in and sat down and the cat hopped on his lap and was purring before he even touched him and the cat hated me after that. >.< even now princess is curled up on his lap watching vikings with him. She only hopped off to discover my tablet is a fun new toy ( she discovered her paws activate the touch screen so she thinks its fun to dig on and make things happen lol) and go back to his lap and vikings. I get stuck with all the cage and litter box training tho….funny that.

The fridge seal guy just left…… and Henry didn’t notice being locked in the bedroom, he slept the 2 hours away. I’m still waiting for him to wake up and come out for lunch. One time a repair man turned up early and we weren’t ‘Henry’ ready for him, so I made him wait outside the front door till we got Henry to bed, ha ha hah! We just said we were putting the dog’s outside – all good.

I know Amanda! I’ll ship him across the border to Roberta first to get him outa the state, and she can express post him to you from there! Make sure you have plenty of dry dog food and coke to accommodate him! LOL!

I’m the one who lives in the ‘Sunshine State’ (QLD) bunnytowne – it is so annoying that something as simple as paying a registration fee and a neutering/spaying programme is all it could take to make Henry a legal immigrant (and it should be the same for cats ‘everywhere’ as it is for dog’s). But in the meantime, we’ve had Henry 1 week short of a year now and are so used to ‘not’ talking about him (even in the back yard), so even if we could, we wouldn’t think to, ha ha hah!
I’m curious – has there ever been another QLD BBer that anyone knows of/remembers?

So why exactly are bunnies banned in that part I Australia? I heard about it years ago but thought the laws changed? Well, Andi if Henry gets found out I will just have to come get him BEFORE he gets deported to Amanda

Jackrabbit: its not so bad till it becomes midterms and finals and it seems like all your professors forget your taking more than just their class lol. I’ve only got 2 more years (might be three I haven’t decided yet) then I’m done. I had to take extra credits this semester so I’d have my prerequisites done to apply to the nursing program in the fall. Trust me I’ll never take 18 credit hours in one semester again lol.

Starshine — I never took 18 hours. That was also back when I had time to actually plan things too! I loaded up my 1st 3 years and took almost all electives my 4th year. Looking back, I wish I had gone lighter & enjoyed it more. I saw that you are a mom — make sure you find time to enjoy that too!

With your schedule, you must be a superhero! (I’m tired just thinking about doing all that! — once you pass 40 your allowed to say things like that!)

Some visitors found a baby turtle today. They have been springing from the ground everywhere, but there is no water for them to go to (drought). I went to take him to our one pond with water in it. I had to climb the fence though to get him down to the water, it was so low. Anyway, there was a group from an adult daycare for people with mental disabilities. I showed them the turtle and they asked me his name. Of course he didn’t have a name, so I said we could name him before I let him go. So “Todd Jr.” made his way to the water shortly after that. Hopefully the little guy has a better chance now.

My weekends belong solely to my daughter I may have alot on my plate but my daughter is number one. She’s why I’m working so hard in school and want to finish asap. She thinks its the coolest thing ever that we both go to school. We even sit and do homework together (she loves telling me my algebra homework is wrong because math doesn’t have letters lol) I’m licky to have an awesome boss who gives me hours to help me get time with my daughter. She stays with her grandparents during the school week (which she loves they spoil her rotten) so weekends shes all mine.
Im NEVER taking more than 12 credits p er semester EVER again its makin me feel like im 40+ lol. But after this semester its downhill and ONLY nursing classes phew. Lol.

Can I get some vibes for my husband, he is back to chemo for his lung cancer and is feeling terrible (as you can imagine). The cancer has spread to his stomach/intestine area – he had his first round of chemo last Monday and he was hopeful he would start feeling better because last time he was doing chemo he said he felt better – hopefully the next session will help more. Thanks.

Oh sarita I will definitely pray for you and you husband! My mother went thru breast cancer ten years ago so I know the cancer battle is so dificult on everyone involved. Vibes that he will feel better

Well… 

Butters found the cat food a few days ago, so I’ve been putting it up.  The other day I came home, let him out, and started cleaning his litter box.  Not a minute later and he’s munching away happily honking (he’s quite the honker) at the cat food.  So I took the food away and put it up.  He SULKED for TWO DAYS.  I thought he was sick.  He just sat in his cage laying around. Didn’t come out much. When he did come out he was in the kitchen by the empty cat bowls (which are metal) and was banging them around. So I started to think he was wanting cat food.  Then he was jumping on the cat food bag.  Yep… I bet that’s it. 

Then last night my husband put the cat food down without telling me. I go into the kitchen to find Butters relaxing on the floor, ears up, happy as a lark.  Then I saw the cat food bowl. *facepalm* 

Butters is a little turd!!!

As much as I try, I can’t truly imagine what you are both going through…… but I’m sure well wishes from us BB bunny lover’s makes all the difference – who couldn’t help but smile (chuckle) and don’t they say a smile/laugh is the best medicine? I’m lucky – I met you and BB and got my confidence. I’m horrified at myself at the thought if I had never met BB, what would Henry’s life really be like? I ‘was’ feeding him that crap – seed, fruit and bit mix for the first 2 weeks of his life with us – shame! But that’s all my ‘local’ pet shop sold and I wasn’t game to ask the staff. Thanks to BB, I found what he needed to eat to stay healthy and found a pet shop that sold Oxbow about half an hour away. I’m one if not ‘the only’ QLDer to know better cause the info just isn’t out there….

Henry would perk up his ears all the way for me, I am sure of it. After all, I am the one making him toys, supplying him with girls, and sharing my hotel room with him in hawaii.

That is so cool LBJ that your ‘group’ were able to name the turtle! My son Blair goes to (I’m still not sure of the official/appropriate name for it is?), an adult day centre (?). He gets to go to Steve Irwin’s ‘Australia Zoo’ about twice a year and I have 100’s of photo’s of him with all the animals (including a snake – eeek!) at Steve’s (Terri’s) zoo. You know what’s funny? Blair is terrified of bird’s! From a baby chick through to Big Bird from Sesame Street, yet he doesn’t flinch at the sight of a croc! LOL!

Cathie – I love ‘Monster’s Inc’! Actually, Blair has all the kiddie/family DVD’s – and I LOVE them all! I even had a cry after watching the final Toy Story! At 23 Blair still carries the Woody doll (he’s missing his arms – we are getting him a new one for his birthday in August) around and I always write his name Blair the same way on Woody’s foot before a new Woody is given to him.

AndHenry – he’s French, they don’t joke LOL…I really don’t understand French humor to tell you the truth, he gets alot of joke emails from his friends and when he translates them for me, well, I guess the humor is lost in the translation :~) But the definitely have a different sense of humor – don’t get me wrong the French definitely like joie de vivre though.

And funny too about the Maimouna LOL – my mother and her friends have recommended this for him….makes me wonder if they have a stash to share – they are all in their 70’s so they definitely lived in the “Age of Aquarius”.

AndHenry: I had to go back and figure out what you meant by Maimouna and it’s funny because I actually thought about that when reading Sarita’s post about her Hubby.

Sarita: I hope your Hubby will feel better soon, sending lots of vibes for him! It seems that the Maimouna does help a lot of people in his situation but I guess there’s nothing available in your state. I find it so unfortunate that people have to continue to suffer because politicians are unwilling to acknowledge the facts.

No I don’t mind the maimouna jokes.  Also it may be the politicians are trying to figure out how to make money off it before they legalize medical use.  Thats usually how things work. 

Sarita I am so sorry your husband and you are going thru this cancer.  My husband had non hodgkins lymphoma 2 months after our marriage.

AndHenry – We usually refer to them as adult daycare centers here. They just offer some additional enrichment and socialization. I think it was nice they came out. Nature is always fun to explore! The baby turtle was very cute and I think he deserved a name. Hopefully he found a good place to hide in that pond. That is one of the few places that actually has water there, so I’m sure there were bigger animals lurking in its depths.

Powder has been sleeping at my feet for the last several hours. He keeps waking up every so often to nudge my foot so I pet him, then going back to sleep. Aww. <3

That sounds adorable!

Okay, I’m super annoyed. I went to help my husband with fixing things at his parents’ rental. I think I’ve told you guys that they are wanting to sell it. So he tells me I should paint the kitchen since his mom was supposed to do that and she hadn’t yet. Fine, whatever. There was no masking tape, so I found an angled brush to paint carefully along the trim. So here I am meticulously painting. Then my husband’s dad (my father-in-law) suddenly shows up. He said that they decided not to paint the kitchen. Keep in mind that they had primed it already with white primer. They thought they could just leave it “white”, but it was obvious that it wasn’t applied evenly. You could see through it in spots, so it didn’t look good. My husband was just like “whatever, I’m sick of doing this stuff”. So we left it like that, with the cream paint I had already painted on one wall. They are going to paint primer over what I painted. My time was pretty much wasted.

That’s why I love Henry so much Stickerbunny! When he lays at the end of my bed, I often look at him and I still can’t believe I am so lucky that ‘I’ own a bunny! Henry makes ME feel so special!

And ‘Happy Mother’s Day’ to all the Aussie bunny mum’s! (is any other country celebrating today – Sunday 11th May?).

When someone hits me up to paint LBJ – I hate it, but have painted so much I am actually good at it now, and can knock a room over in hours. If I put in that effort to have someone tell me ‘after’ not to bother – I’d be furious!!! My hubby hit me up to paint his garage RED and I obliged (cause I rarely go in the garage) as long as he painted the trims and ceiling (WHITE – LOL!). 6 months later, he still hasn’t done his bit! Okay now I’m REALLY annoyed. There is some severe weather in the area right now. I checked the radar, it looks like it will miss us (go by to the north of us). So I decided to go to Kohls to use my $10 off coupon that expires today. I picked out some flip flops and I was heading toward the check out. Then they came in over the intercom saying we were in a severe weather warning and everyone needed to go to the back of the store or leave because they were locking the doors. I asked if I could just pay for the flip flops and leave. They said they had shut down the registers and could not ring anyone up. I had to either wait or leave and come back later. WTH? It would have taken 2 seconds to ring them up. So I left and came home (I don’t live very far away from the store). I looked at the radar again and this large storm cell was moving past to the north of us (still). Talk about being overly cautious! It’s not even raining.

AndHenry – My husband would have told me to paint everything. =p But yeah, I was pretty pissed.

Finally got some decent rainfall. Nothing serious, no hail or anything like that. Note that this was 2 HOURS after I got booted from the store. They had better honor that coupon tomorrow.

I put the Queensland petition on another site I visit. There are a lot of Aussies there, and one in particular that lives in Queensland and wants a rabbit.

Where’s this petition I keep hearing about? I’d love to learn more and help the people in Aussie who want a bun!

I went back today. I told them I wanted them to honor the coupon and the gal who rang me up said “OK”. *shrugs* Well, that was easy enough. It rained quite a bit, about 2 inches when it was all said and done. Now there is some water in our ponds where I work and all the frogs were out singing today (despite the fact that it was a bit chilly).

I also heard that a small town about 40 miles away got over 7 inches! =O

And HECA – that’s awesome you put the petition on the other bunny site, Henry the ‘banana bender’ bunny thanks you! (good one Roberta!) LOL! That would be great if you would sign it too Moxie and LBJ. I jumped back into the petition and was reading some of the comments left by some who signed – ‘bloody Amanda’, ha ha ha – her comment simply said ‘Henry’! Still laughing at that one. I also saw your comment too bunnytowne, lets keep our finger’s crossed something positive comes from this petition. I’m sure other BBer’s left comments, but don’t know there names to make the connection – but plenty of Aussie’s made it quite clear how dumb this bunny ban is in Queensland! Being extra careful with my comment (so they can’t connect me with bunny ownership), I stated what a great fit a bunny would make for me and my household, and my son stated that people DO own bunnies in QLD and worry that they may not be cared for properly as people are too scared to take them to a vet. Another person said that she found a bunny and it was taken by council – I’m guessing she told everyone, how council knew to come and take it…… so sad! As you all know – we tell ‘no one’ about our Henry.

Wow, sure seems quiet around here. I was at work all day, so I couldn’t check in on BB. Oh well, I guess sometimes things are hopping and sometimes things are not.

I feel like I haven’t been here much the last few weeks! I’ve been reading but not posting.
I’ve been super busy with just general stuff. Bunnies had a check up today, and all is well.
It’s my birthday next week!

Bam is now our free range bunny. We decided he seems to enjoy being a bachelor. And Sally and Harley are way too much in love to have another buddy. Since Bam is super well behaved we decided to start transitioning him. He still gets locked up at night time. But we leave him alone throughout the day like if we need to go to the store real quick or go out to walk the dogs. Stuff like that. But he is so well behaved I think it’s gonna be breeze for him we also got him an enclosed litter box and he LOVES it. We didn’t want an open top litter box because it looks tacky in the living room seeing bunny poop and pee in it lol this way it is discreet. And I’m pretty sure he likes it more than the litter pan that stays in his cage. Bam seeks you out for attention and Sally and Harley are in their own world on cloud nine lol I still give them lots of attention like when I’m in there attending to their litter box or feeding them I stay in their for a bit petting them and enjoying their company. They aren’t being forgotten about. But when I open the gate to allow them outside time they don’t ever come out anymore so *shrugs* I think they’re willing to let the living room and hallway go to Bam lol they have an entire empty room to themselves so they get plenty of exercise

manic – I said I didn’t think much could really be done, but I had the phone number for a wildlife organization if she was interested. At least she wasn’t like the lady who was insisting that we catch this wild goose that was hanging around last year. He had a very old injury where his leg had been broken and then it healed together funny. He hobbled around with the other geese, but she thought someone could come catch him and fix his leg. I tried explaining to her that catching him (would need a net) and taking him somewhere would have resulted in him having his leg amputated. He seemed to be coping well enough as he was and idea of stressing him out at that point seemed cruel. It’s nature and these things happen. She didn’t like that answer though and insisted to talk to my “supervisor” after that. Guess what my boss said? LOL

A new volunteer came today to watch over the building while I did a hike. Very nice lady but completely useless. She just sat watching the birds out the window the whole time. I was hoping she at least do something like change out water dishes.Before I left, I asked if she would be comfortable if one of our owls sat out on his perch because that is his routine. She said no because she thought he would “come at” her. Kind of hard to do when you are missing a wing, but whatever. Why are you volunteering here again? I mean, if the animals scare you…

This is so frustrating. At my new job, I have been coming in here and there to get started “early”. Sounded good, but I feel like I’m not being very productive. I mean, I don’t know anything yet. I’m trying to reach out to other people/places that were involved in events last year and I keep running into dead ends. Plus I don’t have my own phone and my computer is insanely slow. So I find myself just sitting there, not knowing what to do. =\

Even more unsettling was when I tried calling this store that had participated in an event last year. I called and someone answered the phone. I started introducing myself and they hung up on me. I heard them slamming the phone down, so it wasn’t like the connection was lost. I tried calling back and I just got a recording of what the store hours were (they were open). So weird, but I got the feeling they didn’t want to talk to me.

Alright the manager of the store emailed me. Sounds like they still want to participate this year. Phew! I still feel like I’m wasting a lot of time while I’m there though. Oh well, at least having this afternoon off gave me an opportunity to go to the grocery store and whatnot.

Went to humane society to check out cats.  Only 1 bunny there.  Thats good.  The Easter dumps haven’t arrived yet.  The 3 fosters must have them. 

not many cats like before used to have lots n lots of cats.  Still the same ol pit bulls n pitt bull mixes.  They had a parvo outbreak a few months back.  Probably put all the animals to sleep.  Was recently reopened after washing down in bleach and inspectors taking samples certified was parvo free.

found 2 cats I liked.  2 solid blacks.  one was around 1 year old a female polydactal  the other 5 years around and male.  The first one had beautiful green eyes. 

The bunny was a black otter.  Sweet.  I wanted to pet it but Cotton would take my hands off.  

Hubby said no cats get another rabbit when Cotton passes.  Cats stink.  If I put Cotton to sleep I can get a cat.  He knows good n well I won’t do that.  A lot can happen in 5 years.  I plan on having Cotton around for another 3-5.  So thats the end of my looking at cats. For now. 

When I got home I was so glad to see Cotton.  I changed clothes Cotton was at the door watching for me. I petted him fed him he hopped up to eat his salad and get petted. I love that little guy so much. He loves me too. 

Hubby is 75 I may have my own apartment by then   I don’t know lots can happen in 3-5 years.  

So am I the only one creeped out by the “staring contest” rabbit in the BB store advertisements?

Could somebody please post the link to that petition on here? Because I still can’t find it.(You could give me all the directions in the world, but I just…Wouldn’t be able to find it….) Thanks.

   Watching the history channel.  When they have leonardo da vinci and aliens in the bible and biblical stuff dna etc this guy named tsoukolous is on there doing a little bit of narration.  He has this wild hair which sticks up all over.  Dark pretty black.  He is a little  bald except for the hair sticking up.  Sort of like Einstein.  Does anyone else watch a few things on thc (the history channel) on the weekends and this tsoukolos guy is on there?  lol.  Fouad and I watch and heres this guy again. lol.  I say him again?  lol.  The hair.  He has something to do with Time magazine.  

Does anyone else every watch this channel and see this guy?      I get so used to seeing him I ask well where is he?  When we don’t see him.  lol  Its almost unusual not to see him when it is a program that you might read about in Time magazine. (not the program but the subject you would read about in the magazine)                                

Guess what guess what        since I been cleaning cottons litterboxes every other day I haven’t seen any roaches in his cage or litterboxes  I cleaned his cage today and no roaches.   None for several weeks.  What a relief. 

The roach problem has  way calmed down I mean big time calmed down.  I haven’t seen any actually.  I still spray when I clean his cage under the couch and the windows they have been seen coming in the thru the window.  I am so happy I bet Cotton is too,

I will continue to stay on top of it and clean litterboxes every other day or maybe every 3rd.  Just in case.

I’m in spring cleaning mode! I’m steam cleaning my carpets. My husband bought me a nice new vacuum cleaner. Has all sorts of gadgets to use and works crazy well I’m excited so I’m gonna be up alllll night cleaning my carpets and getting my house spotless. It’s weird. I have cleaning urges really late at night. That’s when I get things done. I feel like I’m just naturally a night owl and I wait for the cover of darkness to do what I need to do lol

I used to always do my housework late at night NBO. When I used to live on my own with the kids, it was nothing for me to finish work, get the kid’s off to bed after dinner and family time and once they were asleep, off I went! I loved being able to clean with no one making a mess – my house stayed clean for a good 6 hours (before everyone woke up the next morning) ha ha haha!
Also, my hubby has noticed my lack of enthusiasm to keep our floors clean and offered to look at buying a new vacuum. I said “don’t bother”! He gets a new ‘toy’ like a tv and gets excited and can’t wait to use it – and he expects me to get excited over a new vacuum??? NA! Just not the same…..
But good for you – I’m just over housework in general, and it doesn’t help that NOone wipes there feet at the door anymore – and he wonder’s why I have such a bad attitude????? MEN/husbands!

I’m a night owl too NBO. I’ve actually cleaned out the fridge at 2 AM before. Also got excited last year when we got a new vac. I think I was up late that first night too. Those urges haven’t hit in a while though. You’re welcome to test your new vac out at my house when you’re finished at yours! I’ll even stay up and keep you company!

Cleaning sleepover at AH’s house! Party time! I don’t drink (although my son is making me think seriously about it!), but I could definitely share a Coke with Henry! Sneak me a little wine and I’m liable to try s little if Henry’s doggy kibble! Yep, I’m a lightweight when it comes to alcohol. Last time I went out drinking with some friends I met my (now) husband and we decided to get married the next day. (We ended up waiting a little longer). Had our 25th wedding anniversay last week on the 13th.

You guys are crazy. Cleaning is probably one of my least favorite things to do. I clean up after people and animals all day at work, why would I want to come home and vacuum at 2am?

Im sorta weird about my floors. Especially since I have a lot of animals in a tiny house it’s my goal to keep it not looking like a barn! :p but the old vac completely copped out on me yesterday and I was being a complainer haha like I need to vac at least once a day! And well it still worked but sounded like it was a time bomb and I was afraid it would explode! I actually just cleaned my couches! They’re all wet so now I have no excuse to sit down ;p I’m taking a snack break haha I am itching ITCHING to do the bunnies room next! Omigosh so excited to see how this new vac lives up to THAT expectation. My old vac just sorta pushed all the hair around. I was in there for an entire HOUR the other day vacuuming! And the room is about 6ft by 8ft. An HOUR. I’m not even exaggerating that’s the very sad thing lol lets see if this vac can cut that time down ;p and then I’m gonna steam clean it. The buns won’t be happy tonight haha and Bam is free range and he doesn’t seem at all phased about all this late night ruckus of vacuums and steam cleaners running :p

Why am I so hyper! I think Andi the thing is I don’t have children to ruin my hard work so I get to enjoy it a little longer. But I will say my husband is GREAT at undoing my work lol it’s amazing how much clutter he creates.

How do you think I met my hubby JR? He gave me 3 phone numbers (mobile/home/work) and I could of sworn I ditched the piece of paper in the taxi on the way home after a “I’ve been divorced for a year” drunken girls night out! HA HA HA! When I found it in my bag a fortnight later….. here I am 18 years later about to celebrate our 16th wedding anniversary. LOL!
And the wine drinking – I picked up that bad habit (true) doing my housework late at night on my own – having a sip after cleaning the bathroom, another after vacuuming, and a glass when I finished as a reward/treat! ha ha ha ha….. (gee, I slept well!). A lot has changed 16 years on (lol), but I still have fond memories and struggle to clean the bath tub without the incentive, LOL!
I had to laugh NBO – vacuuming everyday….. This morning, getting ready to go grocery shopping, I went to grab my black top and it fell to the floor. I picked it up and the part that fell on the floor was covered in bunny fluff! I can tell you I wore a white (clean) top to the shops!
YEP – Cleaning/vacuuming party at MY house!!!

PS – I agree (but the opposite) LBJ! When I worked in the City I told everyone (all young living at home) that ‘I clean my house’ – I don’t clean here (at work!). No one argued with me! LOL!

I’m not a big drinker but I am rewarding myself each time the steam cleaner is ready for a refill of water by vegging out on some brownies and my Yoohoo! It’s a “chocolate drink” not chocolate milk but a drink. I’m assuming it’s more like chocolate water but that doesn’t sound very appealing now does it? Hmmmm that could very well be why I’m so hyper! I’m about to do my hall way and then FINALLY I can do the bunny room! It’s like the grand finish that room will be :p

the couple who took Patches & Raven for foster-to-adopt 3 weeks ago,,, brought them back today…
i hope they never have any kids if they cant even handle a pair of bonded bunnies.

Shaking my head Mike…… But how lucky (for the bun’s) that they could bring them back to you! Back in the days when I had puppies I made it quite clear – if it doesn’t work out for you, please bring the puppy back to us! No one ever did, I SO hope it was because it did work out? Quite a few kept in touch with me in the first year – one older couple even sent me photo’s along with a note. I still have it to this day. And one lady came to visit me with her ‘Crystal’ 3 x’s. How ‘lucky’ was I!

I introduced Bam to his stuffy tonight lol it was kinda comical. At first he seemed confused. It looked like a bunny but doesn’t smell like one. But just in case he started grooming it…well biting it. He was aggressively grooming it and digging in it’s fur lol and then he decided after being a total jerk to ask for grooms back. But stuffy didn’t do anything. He stayed like that for awhile and it finally ended with a bam grooming his stuffy, GENTLY, for a couple minutes. I think he approves of this stuffy lol

Aww. That sounds cute. All mine ever did to stuffies was pee on them..

I like to clean at night too. But, bf works early and doesn’t let me make noise when he is trying to sleep. I hate doing anything when it is bright out… so yeah.. stuff doesn’t get as clean as it should lol need a new vacuum too, somehow mine has holes in every tube. Wonder who could have done that. *rollseyes* Ah well, I can get one that doesn’t have to be taken apart every time I use it to unclog the hay/hair now !

Do your bun/s use your cats litter box?

HECA: Our cat Lily has her own room with a baby gate in the doorway so the dog doesn’t go in there. So Oscar doesn’t have access to her litter box. I think I’ve read before on BB that they shouldn’t come in contact with cat poop as that can be harmful to them.

Thanks Hazel! I will look into that… Although I have 4 cats. I don’t know that there will be much I can do about it. My other rabbit preferred to use the cats litter box to his own. :/

Today was a little weird. Then again, when is a day not a little weird for me? So I have a group of kids with me and we stop to see the vultures. Then one of the parents asks me if that bird was in there for them to eat. I’m thinking what bird? Then I see this catbird that is desperately trying to find a way out of the cage. How he got in there, I have no clue. He must have squeezed through somewhere and then couldn’t figure out how to get back out. Rest assured, we did not try to feed the vultures a live catbird. They don’t catch live prey anyway.

So I’m finding that my buns have been getting rather pushy with each other, particularly with their treat toys. I put food in that Toys R Us for dogs one today and the way they were shoving each other was almost comical.

HECA – I think the concern is that there could be something in the kitty poop like bacteria that could be transmitted to bunny. I think it is a toss up as to whether a cat has anything potentially harmful in their poop. The risk is probably lessened if they are an indoor-only cat. But it is still recommended that litter box sharing is discouraged.

The concern about cat feces/litter is around toxoplasmosis. I don’t know if rabbits can get it… Hmm I’ll have to look into that, as far as I know rabbit’s can’t or don’t or just haven’t but I could be wrong, but there are other animals that can (including humans, hence why pregnant women aren’t supposed to clean the litter box for example).

My Mother’s Day flowers finally started to droop, so as promised – Henry ate 2 flowers for breakfast this morning. Flowers…. the gift that keeps on giving! Can anyone tell me how many flower’s I should let Henry eat each day?

I did something today that I haven’t been able to do in YEARS because of my anxiety. I went to the gym! I went to the gym and worked out. I was there for an hour and half. it felt amazing to finally work out again. Hoping I will have the courage to go again tomorrow. The entire time I was mentally freaking out and was constantly reassuring myself. but I did it!! Hoping the more I make myself go the easier it will get.

AndHenry – Hmm, I don’t know. I suppose no more than what you would give as a treat? Maybe?

NBO – Have you considered going to a women-only gym? That might help you feel less self-conscious.

Umm not it’s not a gender thing at all unfortunately! It’s I’m extremely self conscious of my weight as people just love LOVE to tell me how skinny I am. Telling me I need cheeseburgers (to my face! Customers!) and some saying I shouldn’t drink water as I’m too skinny and to grab a soda. Couches making me write down what I’ve eaten every day. This is my life lol so I’ve been extremely self conscious. I’m always afraid people are going to judge me for being skinny and working out. Like…when I look in the mirror. I see a skeleton. I hate mirrors! I see skin and bones. What everyone else sees lol but the only way I’ve ever been able to gain weight was to work out. As in a gain muscle. But it’s hard to do when I feel like people are going to judge me for being there working out. And it’s the women that are the worse! Ugh and the sad thing is I agree that I’m too skinny! But I also feel like you can be skinny and unhealthy so I want to start being active again. I’ve also quit eating fast food as I already have high blood pressure at 23 lol so yeah I want to be healthy. It’s just hard grr. And I hate seeing my scrawniness. It’s just ew. Hoping if I get more toned it will at least look better. Because it’s true. I’m very skinny. But not much I can do lol but I can be healthy at least!
My husband is really pushing me. He’s the one motivating me to get out there and working out with him. So I have him to thank. If i were alone I probably would never go to the gym. Or I’m far from that at least lol but I’m very very proud of myself! I weighed myself so I can see if I’m gaining weight. Which I’m sure I will as that’s the only way I’ve ever gained weight was when I was working out regularly lol

NBO: I’m really surprised strangers would say something to you at a gym. I thought most people kept to themselves. Something to try out are boot camp/circuit training/crossfit studios. Class sizes tend to be smaller so you’ll become familiar with the trainers and other clients. That way they won’t make unnecessary comments about you. Not all studios have such a friendly environment, but they’re out there. I also enjoy the more intense workouts from these kind of places vs. me working out alone at the apt gym lol. The only downside is that they tend to be pricey.

I’ve never received these comments at a gym. Just out and about like at work from customers and coworkers. From my husband side of the family and stuff like that. And my husband made a good point that people out and about are ignorant and the people at a gym understand how healthy it is to workout and won’t sit there and stare or judge someone there to better themselves. He says most people who say stuff like that are just ignorant. Which it’s true lol anyone who truly believes I shouldn’t drink water is slightly concerning lol or telling me to go grab a cheeseburger as everyone knows how unhealthy that it lol

But yeah. I didn’t get any stares or anything. Everyone kept to themselves. But it’s still a high anxiety I have that I’m constantly battling inside my head to keep reminding myself that no one cares! Haha it’s true. No one cares lol pretty sure I was staring more than everyone else because I was trying to see if anyone was staring! Lol but those with anxiety understand what I mean when I say I KNLW it’s silly to think that way but can’t help but still freak out haha! But ima go again tonight. My husband basically drags me lol I asked him to really push me to do it and he is doing a good job at it! Lol

NBO – I know what it is like to have customers make rude comments. My favorite was this rather small woman who was looking at shapewear (to hold in what, I do not know). I went to see if she needed help. She was like “Which of these holds you in the best? Oh wait, why am I asking you? You wouldn’t know anything about these, you’re such a stringbean”. It is also worth noting that this woman was looking for a size smaller than what I would wear, not that I was in a habit of buying any of that stuff. This lady definitely had some body image issues. o_O

Thanks LBJ, I sorta thought that too…. so have given Henry 2 flower’s each morning. Sadly they will be ready for the bin before he gets through them, but hey, something is better than nothing. Henry is a lucky boy!

I get what your saying NBO, I’ve always been ‘tiny’ some saying unhealthily skinny till I stopped working around 5 years ago (I now fit clothes off the rack – woo hoo!). I clearly remember trying to join a gym over 20 years ago, and before I could join I had to go through an exam (?) and as he tried to do a fat measure test – looked at me puzzled cause he could barely grab my skin off my body to ask ‘why was I here’? “To get and be fit”! I was so embarrassed I never returned and have not set foot in a gym since. For ME, I found if clothes fitted me well I was comfortable with my size – I hated wearing clothes that hung of me, I felt it exaggerated my slightness. To this day, I have seen the largest of people wearing appropriate, suitable clothing and think they look beautiful and then see someone the same size wearing something I class as tragic and think ‘ICK’! Yet I can see someone simular to my old size wearing clothes falling off them and I have to admit, they look terrible even sickly when they are not. I used to buy my clothes (the smallest size available back then – Aussie size 8) and have them altered (an expense I couldn’t afford). When I felt I looked good (like getting a new hairstyle) I think it came out in my personality and hardly anyone made comments. The few who did, they were just being nasty. Why do people think it’s NOT ok to call someone fat, but think it’s acceptable to call someone ‘too skinny’??? I remember being pregnant and hated being weighed – (not sure how to do the conversion) I was 55 kilo’s at 8 1/2 months and was made to feel bad. ALL my kids were born a healthy weight – ‘I’ was just a tiny/slight build.
Good for you and your hubby for encouraging you NBO – especially if going to the gym may be a solution to assist you in improving on your slight frame. I have never intentionally exercised but have always been active. I eat the same portion size as I serve up my hubby and son, and if and when I’m hungry, I eat! Some people are just small regardless of lifestyle, like some are just big even though they exercise and eat well. Wearing nice (not loose, but not tight either) fitting clothes, a hairstyle that frames your face well may also contribute to how you see yourself in the mirror? This may not be a solution for you, but it helped me at a time when I didn’t want to leave the house cause I felt I looked terrible. I still remember feeling good (even excited) after I got a few items of new clothing back from the seamstress thinking ‘what will I wear tomorrow’? And the confidence boost was just what I needed to leave the house again.

NBO – Try not to be self-conscious. Most women at the gym are there trying to burn calories and lose weight. When they see someone thin there, they are usually self-conscious themselves and are thinking about how hard they are working and how slow the scales are moving. Seeing someone thin just makes them see how far they have to go. It’s just a jealousy thing and we not-thin women can’t help it! Be proud that you are at the gym and do what you need to do to make *you* feel better!

One thing I was NOT happy about when I put some weight on – as I get dressed and have a look in the mirror and think ‘yep’ as I walk away…..
I caught myself in a mirror once while I was sitting and realised my, ‘as I stand’ sorta flat tummy turns into ‘2’ rolls when I sit. DAM! ha ha ha.
That day I ditched all my tight fitting tops (only wearing them to bed) and have now embraced anything that covers my tummy over my pants! And when I try something new on, I have a sit down making sure my top has play/expansion room, LOL!
Talk about one extreme to the other – it’s SOOO unfair!!!!

Tomorrow we’re taking the bunnies to a rescue place that has a boding service – the bunnies are going to stay there for a week or so and (hopefully) they’ll bond them! I’m excited.

I *finally* got a new phone last night — big enough that I can actually see!

Today my BB order arrived. Tent/tunnels and new toys for all my buns!

Just a random blurt!

My father in law and his wife came to Delaware to visit. Showed him our house. All 600sq feet of it lol went out to eat…twice…and saw a movie. It was nice. Not sure why I always get stressed when one of My husbands family come over to visit. I always worry they won’t like me. Yeah we’ve been married for 3 years now but for the most part we’ve been living in Delaware so I haven’t seen much of his parents as they live in Texas lol but I always get worked up over and then end up having a good visit lol his sister came down in February. I don’t have as much anxiety about when his siblings come up lol and then his dad came today and I think his mom is coming up in the fall lol

Also another really weird thing that makes me feel most awkward is anytime we say good bye like if they call or in person they say they love me! As silly as that sounds I don’t like it. Because it’s something I don’t say to like anyone unless I truly love them. But I don’t see them much because we live across the country and see them once a year. I can’t just say I love you back because I don’t even know them that much lol like i really like his family. They are super sweet and always been kind and accepting of me but the I love you makes me feel awkward and I’m left just standing there and thanking them for the visit and giving them a hug lol I feel they only say it because I’m married to their son. I should just cough it out. The first I love you is always the awkward one haha I think tomorrow when he says it I’ll say it back. Just not good at that kind of stuff lol

NBO – No, that IS kind of weird. My in-laws don’t say “I love you” when hanging up on the phone. Heck, even my own parents don’t say it. LOL

Tessie – That sounds exciting! But I’m sure you will miss them greatly while they are gone. =(

Tomorrow is my “last” day at my retail job. It isn’t really, I’m going to be on call after this. It will just be weird not being there on the weekends all the time. I’m also training someone new at my other job this week. I will have to show him what I do with the animals and how to do everything on the computer. So this will be interesting.

Thank you!! My husband thought it was normal! Haha I didn’t say it. I just can’t. I feel like it’ll come out sounding funny because it’ll be forced haha but they were so sweet. But they just left and I’m relieved our goodbye wasn’t an awkward one haha that’s the part I always stress about is the good byes because they usually say they love us yada yada lol but he didn’t yay! So it was a pleasant visit his mom is the worse at it though so we shall see when she comes down next in the fall haha and they don’t tell me directly. I never get caught on the phone alone with them for that particular reason lol it’s usually on speaker phone and she would go “well I love you guys” and I just let my husband say inlove you back. It’s more awkward when they say it in person because they like look at you waiting for a response lol!

My husbands friends say it to me too! I’m not sure what it is about him and his friends and family but they are all lovey duvey people lol I just find it weird. Like when his friend came to visit for Christmas we dropped her off at the airport and she was like, “awe I love you guys so much” lol don’t include me in your love haha I barely know you lol! But it’s more awkward when his family tells me than his friends lol pretty sure my two very close friends have only told each other we loved each other like…twice in the 10 years we’ve been friends. Nope. Not his friends! It’s all about love and telling each other they love each other EVERY TIME they say good byes lol like it’s nice. I find it sweet and I like how they have such strong friendships. But don’t include me haha because I’m not as open to that kind of thing lol!

Phew. And I though I was just really rude or something because I hear him and his friends and family always saying it so I thought I was the weird one lol but really it’s them haha

Ha ha ha ha….. my adult kids and I always say ‘love you’ at the end of a text, phone call or when leaving – but I could never imagine saying it to anyone else and I couldn’t imagine they would either, except for their partners. This is so funny – ‘love you NBO’! ha ha ha ha…..
I get your fear though…. when I used to see my in-laws I dreaded the kiss on the cheek hello, ICK! Talk about awkward, and I’m sure me standing as far away from them as I could on arrival must have been obvious? Who cares? DON’T kiss me! LOL!

Tent, tunnels and toy’s for your bun’s JR? Thank goodness Henry can’t read – he’d really be thinking he got duded having me as his bunny mum. We’ll have to set up a play date for Henry to come over…. do your 3 share their toys??? LOL!
And funny – why get glasses when you can just buy things bigger? When I couldn’t see the tv properly in bed it never crossed my mind to get glasses, and why? A bigger screen did the trick perfectly!

Marlee and Moshi would gladly share with Henry although Henry might get a little nip on his butt from Marlee if he gets out of line! She can be a bossy little thing. Kieko doesn’t share, period. As far as she’s concerned, its ALL hers!

As far as the tv, you and my hubby would get along just fine. The bigger the screen the better! He got into the whole surround experience a while back. I just couldn’t take airplanes and things coming from behind when watching movies so that had to go. I also don’t care to have a 3D tv. When it all goes 4D, count me out. Last time we went to an amusement park, we had a 4D experience with Sponge Bob. I was sick for an hour.

Reminds me of my “farewell to roller coasters” theme park visit. I rode every roller coaster there. (bucket list, check) The last coaster had loops, drops, corkscrews, you name it. My son was still afraid of coasters with loops at the time so he was the official purse holder. When the ride stopped, he came over to me, looked at me funny, and yelled (loud enough for everyone in line to hear), “Dad, Mom’s gonna PUKE!!”. Done with that. I am now the official purse holder. Maybe I’ll even rent a scooter chair!!!

I can’t stop staring at my siggy. So glad I finally have one!

And I’m TERRIFIED of roller coasters! I went on one though that didn’t have loops or anything. Let’s just say it was one of those that I was the only one that screamed hahahahaha! And in the picture they like to take I was screaming bloody murder and everyone around me was laughing :p

Seriously NBO, I don’t find that normal. LOL Telling your kids or significant other that you love them is fine. Your in-laws saying over the phone that they love “you guys”, not a big deal (it’s indirect). Flat out saying “I love you” to your daughter-in-law is a little bit weird. I mean, unless you are REALLY close like that is your second mom or something. But I have never had my in-laws say “I love you” directly to me. For example, when I talk to my mother-in-law on the phone the conversation doesn’t end with “I love you”, it ends in “bye”. Or if we are out at their house and we are leaving, my mother-in-law always says “we’ll see you guys”. That’s it. *shrugs*

Now what’s funnier is the customer (a man) calls on the phone at the store you work at to ask a question. You help him out, he is very thankful, and then he ends the conversation with “thanks, I love you, goodbye”. LOL

My grandmother says love you to EVERYONE in the family. If you’re in, you’re in and you are just like her kids. Even divorced partners stay a part of the family. No one gets left out. lol I don’t say it back though… I feel weird saying I love you to most people and they don’t expect it.

Oh yes, I always gave my grandma a kiss hello – she was MY grandma, and I not only loved her, I adored her! I think grandma’s are different – they’re special. With the exception of that (and my kids of course) BACK UP – don’t kiss me! LOL!

Oh yes they have only told me once more direct to me and i at first thought it was just like an accident hahaha! But in person it’s ten times awkward! Especially when they’re like, “you know I love you, right?” Lol ugh! But they are just such a welcoming family. Their daughters ex husband is still a HUGE part of the family and they are always still saying they love him. Buying him stuff and helping him out of sticky situations lol just not what I’m used to haha it’s cute I guess…but makes me feel awkward haha I don’t have to face it that much now that I’m in Delaware and they are in Texas :p

I wouldn’t say we are close lol I avoid them for this very reason! If we were that close I wouldn’t feel awkward now would I :p hahaha! But i like them! Don’t get me wrong I do like them. But not enough to say I love you lol

Alright, I now have two VERY pouty bunnies. Leopold got his nails trimmed and Wooly had some brushing/trimming done. Both are sulking in their room as we speak.

That’s great, Andi! Yohio still wakes me up, and some mornings I try to plead with him: “Just ten minutes more, please, Yohio”, but he won’t listen. He digs at the end of my bed until I get up and bring him breakfast. It’s not like “oh but it’s digging-time now, mummy”, it’s “Get your butt out of this bed and get me sth good to eat NOW.” (He always has hay. As you guys know. But if sb else should read, bunnies must always have hay).

One odd thing about bunny nails I’ve noticed is that both Bam’s and Yohio’s nails have become thicker only these last few months. I used to clip them with nailclippers for humans, but now their nails no longer fit into the clippers so I have to use the dog’s clipper. I’d expect bunny nails to become thicker as the bunny grows older, but Bam and Yohio can’t be the same age and this thickening has occured in them both at around the same time. They both seem very healthy though so I’m not really worried about it. Just thought I’d check if sb else has had the same experience with their buns?

When Henry jumps on the bed in the early hours of the morning, it’s more of a ‘oh good, she’s still asleep – what can I get into’??? LOL! I know he has climbed over my head to get to my bedside table, the chewed tissues and knocked over items gives that away! And like you bam, it’s nothing to wake up with a chunk/piece missing from my nightwear, eek! Some mornings I can feel something move over me and thinking it’s one of the dog’s give a push with my foot only to hear a ‘light’ plonk on the floor and realise it’s Henry, ha ha ha ha……
I use our nail clipper’s to do Henry’s nails, I better have a sticky at his before I do. I don’t have the dog’s nail clippers anymore cause the groomer trims them. Bugga! I knew when I was de-cluttering and threw them out I may need them again one day????? Happens all the time – sigh!

Luna and Theodore are at this place being bonded! I’m nervous and excited! I’m bunny-less all week though!

I wish there was a bonding service here! I’d hand my three over in a second! We tried on and off for 3 months until one of them got too stressed. I know we did everything wrong and when we’re all (us and bunnies) ready we’ll try again. Sue would be nice to have someone else do it all — I’d even add a 4th!

I love my bunnies, but bonding stress takes its toll on me.

Got married on Friday and apparently didn’t do it the “right way” for people. lol Went up to the courthouse in our blue jeans and just did the legal document signing thing. No fuss. Now family is all offended cause they weren’t invited to… watch us sign a piece of paper? I’m just like “We needed the certificate to file some paper work, no big deal!” – sheesh got people calling each other to gossip about the fact I didn’t even tell my mom we were doing it and she doesn’t even care, cause she knows why I did it (insurance at my partners job is ridiculously awesome but they require a certificate of marriage).

If you did it the right way for you that’s all that matters. If you want to keep the peace, you could have a “reception” and invite the family. You seem to be the casual type (got married in jeans), why not a backyard barbeque with a wedding cake?

If it had been up to me, that’s exactly what I would have done! I did offer to wear a nice suit/dress to the courthouse though! Nope, hubby and family wouldn’t have it. Now I have an expensive wedding dress that I wore for all of 3 hours (neatly packed in a sealed box) on a day that I was too nervous to remember much of. I do have some nice pictures from the wedding though! Wouldn’t change the man I married that day 25 years ago, but we could have had one helluva honeymoon for what that wedding cost us!

Stickerbunny – So if this was for insurance purposes, does that mean you will get married “for real” at some point down the line or what this it?

Stickerbunny: I’m sorry your family is making a big deal out of this, that’s silly. Like you said, it’s not like there was a big party and whatnot and they weren’t invited, you simply signed some papers.

We didn’t spend a single dollar on our wedding, unless you count the gas money… Went to the court house, had two relatives there. Then we went out to dinner, got a free dessert and went home. We don’t love each other any less just because we didn’t have a big, expensive wedding. That money was better spent as a down payment on our house .

LBJ, maybe, eventually… if one day people can agree on what the ceremony thing should be. His family is a mixture of buddhist/pagan/christian/jewish and my family is baptist/jehovah’s witness. I don’t think there is any way to mix all those religions and not offend someone to the point of refusing to come, then being offended they couldn’t come. Especially since anything other than JW would mean at least 50% of my family would find it sinful to even attend. And then his mom wants to do the blessing of the union thing from her religion.. and yeah. To actually do a ceremony would probably take doing at least two ceremonies. And if more than say, a handful of people I don’t know attended my social anxiety would get set off. :s

I wouldn’t mind doing a ceremony – if we could do it my way. Non-religious and out in a forest somewhere, with just the immediate family (so, 10-20 people max) and very cheap/simple. No huge party. A nice simple, $50-$100 dress that I will actually use more than once. Semi-formal to casual. And maybe go out to dinner at a CHEAPER place (I despise fancy food, it tastes terrible) and have a nice, tasty, chocolate/vanilla cake. That’s all. Nothing fancy. But, getting THAT approved would probably be impossible. lol

We weren’t even really planning on getting married at all (we’ve been living together for 8 years). But, his insurance at his job is just so good, it would probably take me 10 years to get a job with that good a package! haha

Well Stickerbunny, it would be YOUR wedding and if they are “offended” then too bad for them. That would be their problem, not yours. When I got married, there was a bunch of fuss that came from my grandma because she had changed religions and thought that getting married on a Saturday was a sin. Well guess what, that was when the most people could attend. We had quite a few coming from out of town and it made more sense to have the wedding on a Saturday. She threatened not to come, but my dad reminded her that it was not her that was getting married so the “rule” shouldn’t apply. At least not for the sake of whether or not she should attend. So she came and that was that. Whether she was grumbling under her breath, I didn’t notice nor did I care.

Oh the memories…. lol! After my first 10 year marriage ended I kept the surname cause it was just too hard to change it and it was the same as my kids, and actually, no one cared, least of all me. When I met current hubby around 18 years ago and after living together he suddenly had a problem with my surname – HUH? I thought it was dumb for the kid’s to have one surname (they were young), him another and me my maiden name. So I said if you have a problem with my surname ask me to marry you – he did, HUH? Ha ha ha ha ha…..
I wasn’t religious, but he was catholic and it was important to his family, and cause he had never been married before we did the church wedding and reception (on the cheap) and I loved it! But that was what my hubby wanted and cause I wasn’t bothered either way it worked.
Now my kid’s are adults – my daughter currently has no interest, prefers to spend the money on their house and holidays and I couldn’t care in the slightest. My youngest son is saving for his girlfriends ring and wants to get married next year – wonderful! Go for it! I think it’s up to the individual and whatever the choice, it should be respected and supported.

Congratulations Stickerbunny – I’m so happy to know your happy (less the crap your now enduring).

We grilled burgers today instead of tomorrow since it is supposed to rain tomorrow. Had some corn on the cob too. My husband just finished grilling the burgers and we were chowing down when it suddenly started pouring rain. That was 2 hours ago and now it’s still raining. I guess it’s a good thing we didn’t have any real holiday plans.

I was busy gardening all day today in the back yard. Made like a herb garden for Bam. He was out there with me monitoring my work. Making sure his slave was doing things correctly.

Ugh for those that remember me rehoming my dog Bear to a new family. We still see him of course. But they know Penny off my 600lb life. They watched her dog for a few months while she went to Texas for her surgery. So they told me to watch her show and I missed it but it’s on now and I just watched it. Wow. Like wow. I remember bears new mom on facebook defending penny saying she has worked hard and yada yada. NO she hasn’t wow. She only lost 35 a year after surgery. She’s STILL to this day bed ridden. It’s been OVER a year. And I’m quite frankly disappointed in Penny’s friends (Bears new mom included) Enabling her. You are making her think it’s okay by defending her. They think they’re being nice but they are killing her. Penny keeps wondering why she’s not losing weight yet she’s eating fast food all the time and eating terribly.

Now she’s decided that her disability is ok because since she is bed ridden her son gets to see her all the time compared to mothers who work wow! She seems so ok about her disability. All that money that the community donated to get her surgery is wasted. Good grief. I can’t feel sorry for those kind of people.

Oh dear, NBO, that’s disappointing. But kinda sad I think… :/

Bunny bonding woman updated me today, she said they were one of the top three worst introductions she’s ever done and she considered giving up straight away, but since then there’s been progress! Snuggling and grooming! I’m so happy!

It just blows my mind how people can do things like that with no conscience. Any way, my dislike of stealing bleeds over to intellectual property and photography. I started a Tumblr for the buns. I’m mainly using it to just store pictures of the buns. Any way, I was looking at blogs that were rabbit related. And I noticed a bunch of pictures of buns that the owner of the blog did not own. Our bunny community is pretty small so I easily recognized some of the buns as definitely not being theirs. I don’t mind if people blog photos of other’s animals. At least give them the credit of the photography and link to their Instagram or whatever. Not giving them credit is like stealing their pictures and memories. I don’t know why this bugs me so much. Maybe I’m just weird.

Oh no bunny brigade I totally feel you! I work in retail and it’s terrible. People ride out of the store on bicycles!! Every day I see theft and it truly makes me dislike this terrible world lol we lose over 100k a year from theft. Pretty sure last year it was like 280k. And I just work at a toy store!

I hate thieves too. I could tell you so many stories. LOL Like the big lady riding around in the motorized scooter. She would be shoving stuff in her bra, mostly costume jewelry and such. Anytime anyone would attempt to approach her, she would speed off on the scooter and practically run you over!
For the longest time, we also had some trouble with an organized shoplifting ring. It was because of them that some serious changes needed to be made to our system. This was before we had electronic store credits for merchandise that was returned without a receipt. Instead, we had these paper certificates that the register would frank like a check. Well anyway, these people would steal stuff from one store in our chain and then return it at another in a different city. They would get a store credit. But they figured out that they could use the store credit to buy something, ask for a gift receipt, and then return that item later with the gift receipt to get cash back. Yes, it was a crazy amount of steps they had to go through, but they eventually ended up with cash. The company found out what they were doing and made huge changes to the policy. It’s still crazy for me to think about.

That’s one (of many) reasons why I don’t purchase off ebay LBJ – I wonder how much of it is stolen goods? I watched an article recently of a shoplifter being caught with up to 50 ‘Olay’ (women’s) products and the guy admitted he planned to sell them on ebay! Besides the obvious outrage…. can you imagine putting a product on your face that was down some feral’s pants???

AndHenry – Oh yes, we had a HUGE handbag heist a few years back. Some expensive ones were locked in a glass case. The thieves worked as a team with one distracting the sales associate at a different counter and the other ducking down behind the case to cut the lock off. They made off with a couple thousand dollars worth of merchandise and there is no doubt in my mind that they were sold on ebay.

And Henry: Oh my goodness! I had never thought of people selling things on e-bay that they had stolen! That’s totally nuts. The idea would never have crossed my mind.

LBJ: That’s insane. I hope the associate didn’t get into too much trouble for that. But we have the same issues like that at my store. Except, it’s with jewelry. They have a bunch of jewelry that’s expensive and out on top of the counters. And people distract the associate while others nab stuff off of the tabletop stands.

Yeah, true, you never know what you’re getting on eBay… Scary isn’t it?!

Well, you get what you pay for on ebay… you just don’t know where it comes from. I know someone who sold about $10,000 in stolen goods on ebay. o.O

But, then, you never know where stuff is coming from anyway. Those free goodies the co-worker offered you? My dad used to klepto stuff all the time and give it away to co-workers saying he had extra whatever he couldn’t use and asking if they wanted it. Free food? I worked at a store where people would come by after closing and steal all the packaged food we threw away out of our dumpster – illegal, dangerous and rather gross, but they did it. Friend offering you some electronics piece they “don’t use anymore” ? One of my bosses at another job used to steal bluray players from walmart and offer them to friends (he would cut open a box for a cheapy $19 DVD player, put the bluray player into it and tape it back up and go check out getting a $400 player for $19 and offer to sell his “old player” for $50 to friends).

Nah, I don’t think they reprimanded her or anything. I mean, what are you supposed to do? You’re busy and it’s a large area, either have more people working or be prepared to have stuff disappear. Sadly, that’s just the way things are.

Well, my discussion with my new boss has led to nothing but more confusion. I was trying to figure out what her expectations are of me. She was just like “whatever you want them to be”. I’m just not used to having zero structure.

Which person? The ebay person? No, they just told me about it. Same with the bluray guy. I’m extremely quiet, so people kinda forget I am even there and just talk like I am not. I hear a lot of dirty secrets that way. lol

So the stove and fridge are sitting in the middle of the living room. The good news is that my husband installed some linoleum in the kitchen today while I was at work. We have to wait for the glue to dry before we can move them back though.

Eh. You kind of need to have proof to get them caught. And them just telling you isn’t very good proof. “So and so said they did this!”  – not a good solid case. So, in general, crooks in my experience are pretty open about being crooks… unless there is evidence against them. Like, we were looking around car lots for a good car once and a car full of guys drove by and said “Don’t buy any of those cars. We steal them and they always break.” People admit crimes all the time – just think of how many people admit to trying drugs, or admit to drinking alcohol under 21. Unless the police catch them actually doing something though, they are perfectly safe to say they did it. So, them talking about crimes they committed in front of me isn’t exactly trusting. There isn’t anything I could have done about them even if I wanted to.

We actually had a case some year ago where two women buying baby-clothes off our equivalent of Ebay got convicted of sth because they ought to have realized that the goods must’ve been stolen in order to be so cheap. But those women bought rather a lot of clothes, not just an item or two. And they didn’t exactly get 20 to life either. I think they had to pay some sort of fine.

Well, in my experience, the police do not like to disrupt an adult’s job or family life without good reason. The worst I have seen is a police officer knocking on the door, saying “do you know about thisthingthathappened?” and when the person says no, they say thank you and have a nice day. *shrug* So, don’t know many people that fear saying they broke the law at some point.

And yeah, some things are just obviously stolen and it’s your own fault if you get in trouble for buying them. There have been a few cars around here sold with “lost titles” for like $500 and in excellent condition. Yeah… no. I am looking for a cheap car, but that just screams “STOLEN”. lol 

The people making that TV show still want Luna and Teddy. We’re meeting them next Tuesday. Typically bad timing with all this bonding palaver!

It is an American TV show hosted by LeVar Burton (from Star Trek TNG if you don’t know who that is) that ran for 30 years and inspired many, many children to love books. His goal is, since 1 in 4 children in America are illiterate, to put it into classrooms for free as well as launch it on the web to give children access to reading material online.

90’s educational programming was high quality stuff lol. Plus you can’t beat that RR intro song. Wishbone was another good literature focused series. Who doesn’t like to watch a dog (in costume!) reenact scenes from classic books.

We get to watch Bear in July! I’m so so excited! We are watching him from the 3rd-6th

Bear is a dog that I rehomed last year to the most wonderful family ever. We still go see him and visit with him and the family. We also bring Abbie over to see him. I can’t wait for him to come over lol

AH — you dont know “blonde moments” until you’ve met my sister. Years ago she was filling out some insurance papers and she called me long distance to ask me what her maiden name was. (her youngest son’s middle name is her maiden name). All I could think to say was “Sweetie, lets let someone else fill those forms out for you!” On her 40-something birthday, she got mad at me for telling her how old she really was (she had miscalculated). She has a great sense of humor so we have fun with it.

OMG! Thank you so much for that JR! I laughed so hard and so much, I had to wipe the tears away from my eyes – absolute classic!

I’m so tired and yet I’m on here. Still. =\

I feel like I didn’t get a day off at all. I just can’t do this. How do people work until 5:00 every day? I get home and it seems like I have NO time to do anything. Then my husband sucks up my entire weekend with his “projects”. I’m just exhausted, I can’t stand it. I hope things get better. I’m still having a lot of doubts about this job that I had wanted so badly. Not necessarily the job itself, it’s more my boss. I’m just not used to being managed in this way, if that makes sense.

Tessie, you can, you just have to change your DNS settings to a U.S. DNS. Which is perfectly legal and google supplies DNS addresses for free to the public that anyone can use (they even automatically shift people to a tutorial about it when their countries do dodgy stuff like ban twitter). Just google how to change that on your OS (it varies by operating system/platform, can do it on any system, including Xbox and PS3). Voila, instant access to American websites.

I rearranged the buns’ living arrangements on Tuesday. Man was that a project. The buns seem to like it a lot more. Ian and Skipper get more room (they have a full living room to themselves) and they seem to be doing better without the boys. I think they felt threatened by the boys. Now there isn’t any of that. And Hugo and Tonka get more play time. Which will work wonders with Tonka’s hyperactivity. He needs to get rid of all his energy. xD

I my gosh! I remember reading rainbow from when I was little!!! (Not to long ago lol) I also remember the backyardegins (dunno how to spell it) magic school bus, chalk zone, Harold and the purple crayon. I wish I was 5 years old again

Butters and I made our first vet trip today. 

I made him an appt. this morning because he got a small tare on his 3rd eyelid last night, and he had the sneezes. 

I had a mammogram today for a lump, but I was so worried about my baby… I was rushing like mad to get out of there to make it to his appt. 

Butters was SOoooooo good.  He let the vet look at his teeth, and feel for his little furry testicles, and even let him put tweezers in his eye and cut away the tissue that was hanging from the tare on his 3rd eyelid. He didn’t even flinch. 

Turns out Butters has the snuffles.  As I was explaining to the vet that Butters has a love for cat food… He says, “Really? We’ll give him the pills then.  They are meat flavored… He’ll probably eat them with no problem.” 

The good news… As soon as he’s better… He can get neutered.

HECA – A mammogram for you? Hope everything is okay. =\ Wooly has a torn third eyelid. It just protrudes a bit. The vet decided to leave it alone since it doesn’t seem to bother him.

The fridge is still in my living room. The stove was moved back into the kitchen though. Not sure when everything will be back where it belongs. We had to go to a funeral yesterday, so that took up a lot of time. Well, mostly because we had to drive some distance to get there. Oh well. Perhaps things will get done this weekend.

Bam has fleas!

LBJ it was a tare that was really thin and long… So it was floating across his eye, but it was fixed quickly.
My mammogram I’m not too worried about. Thanks for the concern though.

NBO… Fleas are easy to treat. Just make sure you treat everyone.

Yep getting revolution tomorrow morning. I’ve been meaning to get some. But been putting it off. Nothing like a flea to make it’s appearance to get you into gear! Lol

It is plenty warm for fleas here. Actually, so warm that I haven’t seen too many ticks recently. The mosquitoes have been after me though! They bit me through my t-shirt yesterday. It was from taking the dog to the park too, not from work. The mosquitoes are getting pretty heavy at work since it has rained some. I guess during the heat of the day though, there aren’t as many. It was around dusk when we took the dog to the park. Ugh. See what I meant when I said earlier that I have no time for anything? If I didn’t have to work so late then we could have gone to the park much sooner.

I hate bug bites!
Luckily there aren’t many bugs where I live.

I’m trying to transition to vegan from vegetarian, it’s not working too well, LOl. I like cheese!
Although I did try almond milk today, not too bad. A bit too sweet perhaps.

I used to cook a lot for someone lactose intolerant and used Almond Milk. It’s actually pretty easy to make for those into that sort of thing. No added sugar or preservatives.

1. Get Almonds.
2. Put almonds in boiling water for about a minute.
3. Strain and de-skin almonds. They slip right out and your will probably accidentally shoot a couple into your own face… Or that’s just me!
4. Place naked almonds into blender add a cup of cold water and blend. Repeat, adding more water until you get the desired consistency.
5. Strain out almond pulp and enjoy fresh almond milk.

Some people soak them in water overnight to soften them further but I’ve never done this and still have enjoyed delicious almond milk. The only down side is I don’t think it lasts as long without preservatives. I’ve used it a s a milk replacement in baking, mashed potatoes, ect… But I’ve never really tried to store it for more than a few days.

Thanks MD! That sounds much better than the store bought stuff with all the sugar in it! I will definitely give it a try!

If you get lazy and want store bought, they make no sugar added almond milk. There are multiple types. No sugar, vanilla, chocolate and regular. You can also try soy milk, rice milk or hemp milk (that one is hard to get in some places, due to the hemp trade restrictions in the states). And you don’t have to give up cheese. They make vegan cheese using alternatives to milk. There is also vegan gelatin, vegan ice cream, vegan chocolate and vegan baked goods.

Of course, what is available depends on where you live. I am vegetarian but haven’t been able to go vegan because there are no alternatives short of making my own. Not even any quinoa or tempeh in my town that I can find! Argh.

Good luck with the switch. And if you end up having trouble, don’t feel too bad – even people like Jane Goodall are not vegan due to it being hard to find alternatives (especially in Africa). One can only do their best.

Do you mind me asking…. why go vegan? Nothing dies for you to eat it???

There was a program a while back on professional theft.  The theives would go in with special pockets sewn into their clothes jackets purses bags whatever puts stuff in and walk out. They may  have a partner.  Then go and sell the stuff on ebay cheap. Or anywhere else they can sell it.  I didn’t know that at the time of watching it.  They showed where the cameras were and what they looked like.  In other words here is what to look for when you steal stuff so you don’t get caught.. 

And vegan I tried that what I did find to eat was so expensive I couldn’t afford it.  Besides tofu cheese was just terrible and I love cheese.  That didn’t last but a month or so. 

And Tessie I for sure want to see the program about the buns.  Let us know when and where please. And when the filming is taking place. 

Speaking of ebay.   I been prowling ebay and etsy.  Am making a bracelet like the pandora ones but cheaper.  They aren’t pandora beads but pugster beads.  I have the bracelets.   Just paid for my bead charms and waiting for them to come from overseas and from sellers on etsy. I got cats and bunnies. Make my own with what I want. 

2 bracelets one cats n bunnies another just bunnies n pink beads a 3rd with leopard heads n green eyes. Will be pretty.  Oh and a 4th with charm beads of spotted leopard colors.  4 beads and some divider beads. Should be pretty.  Will post pictures when it is all arrived and put together. 

Ah I can eat now.  The synthroid I have to wait an hour after taking it to eat.  Ah food n coffee.  Then clean cottons house and litterboxes vacuum mop.  Busy day every saturday.

AH-Mainly so nothing dies/is treated badly. It’s more for me, I really can’t handle eating something I know used to have a personality. I have been vegetarian since I was 13, so 15 years, but now I am trying to be vegan. (No animal products) it’s hard but worth it. Good thing I like vegetables!

LEL I hear you about the animals having personalities and not wanting to eat them.  I was vegetarian for 3 years then my Dad happened.  He didn’t respect my choice even tho I told him before he cooked.  I am vegetarian off n on.  I do meatless off n on still.  I just love goat and lamb to eat them I mean.  Sorry.   

I know how you feel tho about eating animals I can understand and respect your choices that goes for all vegetarians and vegans. 

Back to theft.  We were on the porch.  Some guy came by wanting us to open his bottle of wine.  The cops had stopped him but he didn’t have an open container so they couldn’t do anything.  After he came up here cuz he saw us out, 2 of the people up here went into their apartments pretending to look for a wine bottle opener.  Came out hope don’t have one can’t find it etc. 

Well he said he will be back with a bunch of clothes to sell.    He went and stole a whole bunch of clothes and came back trying to sell them to us. I went inside. The others said no and went inside too.  Even called the police.  He had left.  Since we didn’t know where he stole the clothes from there was nothing the cops could do.  No stores had reported the stolen clothes either.  Non of them had the gadgets that set off the alarms either. I know 3 stores here that don’t put the gadgets on the clothes just the purses. Expensive purses that is. Not the cheaper ones. 

Isn’t that something.  The guy came up here admitting he stole them and since no one knew where from and no store was aware he stole them there was nothing the cops could do.  Ok enuf of theft.

But I dosed bam with the advantage for kittens. Right behind the neck. He can’t reach back with his mou but he scratches it with his back leg and then licks his foot! What do I do?

Oh good NBO.   Thats about where I put it.   Between the neck and ears.   I rub it in real good so hopefully if he reaches it with his foot he won’t get it on his foot and ingest it.    

The vet showed me where to put it.  Part the hair and put it on the skin. Where he can’t reach it. Rub it in.  That would be between ears and neck in that area.   I asked what if Cotton ingests it.  The vet said he may seize.  If I notice that bring him in right away.  Has never happened.  

Once I dropped it and it landed where he could reach it.  I wet a cloth and rubbed.  Apparantly he never ingested it. I got it off as he never had any adverse effects from it.  Gave me a scare.   Over protective bunny mums and dads lol

Oh what to do with my time.  I just won and paid for my last bunny charm beads for the pandora style bracelet.  No more prowling ebay or etsy.  All done.  It was fun waiting til the last 20 seconds and outbidding someone.  lol   Ahhhh  Now what do I do.  

Prowl BB.  Ok did that cleaned house. Well I am hungry.

He’s fine. I just got home from work. vets are closed anyways. But now that it’s dry he doesn’t care lol but I came home to a bunny locked up on his cage first time in a couple weeks since he’s been confined lol Apparently he was being very naughty and my husband had had enough. I think he was acting out because he was groomed and treated for fleas :p

Haha! Mine just sulk anytime I groom them or cut their nails or whatever.

Bunnytowne – Yeah, people are crazy sometimes. I’ve never had anyone try to sell me stolen stuff though. Heh, we did have a guy break his leg trying to get away from police/security. He had actually stolen some jeans at the store next door. In an effort to evade security, he went through my store. He made it to the sky walk and came out on the top floor of the parking garage. They were still pursuing him, so the dummy thought he could jump. Yep, broke his leg. They had to call an ambulance and everything.

Our bathroom door had to be removed and while we don’t have one, we have a privacy curtain in place (we need a new door so it’ll be a little bit while we get one that matches these old doors). My bird has realized there is no door and now every time anyone walks in to the bathroom for any reason, he flies in over the curtain and proudly announces how smart he is with a triumphant song. It’s hilarious, but I am glad I don’t have guests often. Bad enough not having a door for a little bit, can’t imagine a non-pet person being happy with a parrot on their shoulder singing triumphantly while they go potty! lol
