I know it’s been a while since I posted – I want to update and say right off the bat, I do not think Licorice and Chipper are bondable. Both are neutered males – Licorice is now 8 weeks post neuter (and gaining a bunch of weight! Wondering if it’s related. )
At any rate – we have tried to do a few sessions here and there. Before Licorice’s neuter – he would hump, and Chipper didn’t like it – he’d nip. Now, Licorice is downright aggressive with Chipper.
Three days ago – he some how found a way through our barrier, and attacked Chipper. OH MY – I had NO idea bunnies could fight like that. I was screaming for my husband – fur flying EVERYWHERE. Licorice inflicted 3 little nasty wounds on Chipper. (He has been checked and healing fine!)
My husband is delusional and doesn’t think Licorice wants anything but to be Chipper friend. Right. Chipper clears warns him off for a reason – and even though he is the bigger bun, he took the worst of it. =(
He already came to us a victim – he was wounded and in a poorly kept outdoor hutch, then returned to the SPCA. He is a huge scardy bunny. How do I ease this poor guy now? (Thumping at everything). And we now have TWO high baby gates stacked so there is NO way Licorice can get to him – but he often still relentlessly bangs at the gates trying to get in there. What the heck do I do with Licorice? He has free range – and there’s no where else I can move them. This is the best separation I can do as there are no doors down here and they cannot be in our bedrooms.
