At the beginning of the month I took buttons and Suri in for their combined myxi/VHD vaccinations. They had a full health check and were completely cleared of any illness and injury. Since having the vaccine both were leaving their cecotropes. I figured this may be due to the vaccine making them taste weird and reduced their pellets slightly just to encourage them to eat them.
Suri started eating them as normal from then and I haven’t had a problem with her since however buttons is still leaving his. They are now on 50g Burges excell rabbit pellets (the best in the uk, oxbow isn’t sold around me and the vets all recommend excell) and 4 cups of leafy veggies (no new veggies have been introduced) with 2 small florets of broccoli and cauliflower. They weigh around 4lbs each.
They both eat a lot of hay but buttons is also eating a lot of grass (they get daily exess to the garden).
With some encouragement I can get him to eat his cecotropes but in general he just leaves them. They’re well formed.
So the question is, is this normal? I know it can be a result of over feeding and I have seen it in the past if I give them a bit of fruit 2 days in a row but I’m strict with their diet now more than ever.
Is this something I should be concerned about?
Thank you
