I think if he is eating and drinking and pooping then he is probably fine and I would let him be. Males seem to recover very quickly from neuters and don’t always need the pain meds.

If nothing else can you take a banana chunk and make a little dip in it and put the meds in the “bowl” to see if you can perhaps get him to take it that way – kind of trick him into taking them.

If you think he needs the meds, prep the syringes and leave them in another room. Pick him up and give him a treat, then bring him in and have one of you hold him while the other syringes it into his mouth. I never let my girl see the syringe until she’s wrapped in a bunny burrito, or is being securely held by someone, since she HATES medicine.

But, if he isn’t tooth grinding and is eating / drinking, he may not need meds. My vet won’t even give meds to a male, unless they need it. He thinks too many chemicals in a rabbit is a bad thing, so he gives them mandatory to females but it’s a “only if he actually needs it” for a male. It’s a less invasive surgery for them than a spay is.

The first morning after my buns surgery, he didn’t want to take his meds.  I dumped the syringe into a piece of banana.  The second morning, he came willingly to the syringe and I had no issues at all. Just keep trying it gets easier.

I would try to get him his meds. Like Stickerbunny said, try and pick him up. How long does he need them. Do you know and are you comfortable with turning him upside down? Rabbit’s backs are very fragile, so if you don’t know how to do it correctly, we can help.

For wrapping though, I find it’s easier to wrap them if you put them up high (I do the burrito wrap on my girl by the kitchen sink on the counter, since she is too scared to jump from that high up and hates the kitchen floor since it’s linoleum). Once he’s all healed up, you want to try to get him used to handling at least to the point you can do regular maintenance – grooming, meds if needed, etc in the future. Will make your life together easier if you aren’t constantly fighting with him to do anything when he gets sick or needs his nails done!

I would leave him be you would know if he was in alot of pain, buttons was prescribed meds after his neuter but he got so panicked whenever he took them it simply wasn’t worth it as all the struggling made him swell a little! You can always try the banana trick if he does need them however if his apatite is good and he’s fairly active he’s probably okay x
