callie lives in a 4×4 xpen. my bedroom rug is underneath the pen. she pulls at that, so i cover it with a sheet. this solution worked for my former bunny cosie for nearly ten years. it’s doable with callie, but not the best solution.
she pulls at the sheet and digs into it. there are holes everywhere. i find the remnants so i know she’s not eating them, but still i don’t like this. i tried the kids’ puzzle mats. she chewed those too. i tried thicker blankets…chewed as well. right now i’m back to the sheet.
i don’t want to use linoleum or tile because i don’t want her slipping. anything i put in there to make it softer she’ll dig or chew at.
also, she occasionally has accidents. sheets are easy to swap out, and the puzzle mats cleaned up well. i need an easy clean solution.
my latest idea is this: lay tarp on top of my rug and on top of that place 4 sq ft of that nearly flat office type carpet. i figure i can punch holes in the carpet and zip tie it to her xpen. however, i’m concerned about the longevity of this solution because of her accidents. also, knowing callie, she’d find some way to destroy it!
any other ideas? i’ve been hunting around online but no one’s rabbits seem quite as destructive as callie!
