My baby has been diagnosed with bladder stones. The stone they found is pretty much wall to wall inside his bladder. Even though it was that big, he didn’t start really showing symptoms until 4 weeks ago. They did a urinalysis and it came back he had a UTI and we treated him for that, but he was still urinating on himself. We took him back to the vet and that’s when we found out about the stone. He has a weakened immune system and the bladder stone has already caused quite a bit of damage. so after careful consideration, we made an incredibly painful decision and agreed that it would not be worth the risk of surgery (especially considering how expensive it was and the likelihood of him developing another if he did manage to make it through). So right now I’m trying to make him as comfortable as possible and spend as much time with him as I can before it comes time to take him back to the vet. This is proving to be quite difficult because he has so little room in his bladder, and is urinating so frequently on himself. I can’t seem to keep him clean and dry. I’ve been cleaning him off with baby wipes several times a day and have been giving him butt baths every couple of days to try and get the urine off, but because of the frequency he’s going, it’s not really helping. He has already lost a considerable amount of fur just in the past two days around his stomach and tail area, but none of the skin is abscessed, just normal pink. I’ve already started bag balm on those places. I’m wondering if you guys have anymore tips or suggestions on what else I can do to keep these exposed areas of skin protected and how to keep a severely incontinent bunny clean and dry. :/
