Hi there,
I’ve recently got two 9 week old does (they are bonded fine) and I’m having trouble bonding them with my adult (well, 5 month old) doe. The adult (Ginge) has been spayed, and obviously the two babies have not been yet.
They have their own room, but Ginge is in a separate cage and does not get let out at the same time as the bunnies, they have got used to each other’s smell and Ginge no longer tries to attack them through their cage bars. However, when i have tried to bond them (in neutral territory- the bath, my bedroom ect) Ginge will attack them as soon as they move, but is fine if they are still and I am stroking her. I have tried having the bunnies out separately and together, tried using food and tried scaring them together by turning the hoover on, and still Ginge hasn’t taken to them.
I’m incredibly nervous about the whole thing, especially with the size difference, Ginge could really hurt the babies. Is it worth me waiting until they are all full grown and spayed for me to bond them, or does anybody have any advice on how to do it now?
