  For those that aren’t familiar, Pergo is basically planks of (fake) wood that have a special design where they lock together. We have a few spares to replace when we move/sell, but ideally we will never touch those. I am getting my former bunny back soon, and am living in a new place where I have never had a bunny. The cage design is pretty much taken care of to protect the floor, but I want to make sure the supervised out of cage time doesn’t cause any damage. We also have a lot of heirloom furniture pieces. She is an absolute chewing machine. That is just her thing, doesn’t matter how many toys she has that she is supposed to chew. She will get out of cage time outside on nice days, but I don’t want to rely on that as it gets pretty hot in the summer. Unfortunately, I don’t know where my ex-pen got put so that actually kind of prevents outside time too, as I was thinking I could simply set up the pen inside so she could have caged free time… But obviously not. So, bunny slaves, wranglers, and keepers of Binky Bunny, have you survived with bunnies on Pergo?

  I have Pergo Xp type flooring which is the hand sawn oak it has a bit of texture to it. I am not sure if yours is smooth or like mine. My rabbits both have a bunny room which is carpeted but free roam in the areas where the pergo is. One of them doesn’t mind walking on it too much he does carefully though he will hop slowly because he has slipped on it before.My other rabbit wont walk on it I have to lay blankets down for her or she wont leave her room. She has stepped on it a couple of times but it scares her. I am not sure if this is the type of floor you have or want to use in her cage? As for my floorings durability its great I got cats and dogs and it hasn’t gotten scratched up by them. I chose it over wood for that reason though people think our floor is wood. The bunnies have never tried to chew it also if that is a question or concern you have had. Just see how your rabbit does on it If you need to put something like a rug or blanket down that they can be more stable on. I get a little nervous sometimes when the one bunny I have that does walk on the pergo gets a little scared of a noise or something he tends to slide when trying to run fast on it to get back to the blanketed areas I have also laid down for him. That is the experience I have had with the rabbits on the flooring.

  Thank you Sindriona! It sounds like we have very similar flooring. Her cage will actually have linoleum with rugs/grass mats. I didn’t even really think about her slipping. The dogs and cat do slip a fair amount as they zoom around playing, though my bunny is a bit older so she probably won’t zoom about. So far the flooring has been really great against anything the dogs have thrown at it. There is a scratch on one small section, but I think it is from a chair scraping, or possibly a rock getting stuck under a wheel that was rolled as everything has those little anti-scratch pads on the bottom.
  
  I have a nice large area rug that is close to where I plan on setting up her cage, so I think she can just stay on that little island. It is perfect too because there the table legs are metal so she can’t chew much!
