Seems like the road to Calvin’s heart is now officially opened!

My bunnies are not fond of the same greens. Bam eats romaine happily, Yohio won’t. Bam loves all kinds of kale and cabbage, Yohio will only touch it if there’s absolutely nothing else. Yohio can have carrot, Bam’s stomach can’t handle carrots. Yohio likes ground elder ( a common weed where I live) but Bam loves dandelion greens.

With only 2 bunnies it’s kind of easy to remember who likes what, but I still wish they would like the same things, although now when spring has come and there’s a vast variety of forage it’s not a big problem.

One of mine is very picky (eats only lettuce and parsley) and the other will eat anything. If I have leftovers of some green that I know my male won’t eat, I try to put it in only one food bowl so he can avoid that one. One time I put spinach on top of lettuce and he wouldn’t eat any of it, thinking it was all spinach :eye roll: If I have carrot ends I just save them for my girl and give him some other treat.

He used to hate parsley as well, but learned to eat it from his bonded friend and now it’s the first thing he goes for every night. So I do think they can learn to eat things they previously turned their noses up at. I don’t think it’s that he doesn’t like these other foods, it’s that he won’t even try them and once he does, realizes they aren’t so bad.

As you know calipa_st I only have the one bun, Henry. But he is worse than my kids with being picky with his veggies. My plan was to buy our veggies each week and give Henry the scraps – yer right?!?!? When we go shopping now, we have 2 baskets – one with our veggies and the other to fill with Henry’s veggies! And at night my bench is ‘full’ of veggies for dinner prep. It’s silly – I used to make my kids eat what was on their plates and yet with Henry, a ‘bunny’ I never put what he doesn’t like  in his bowl! Before I got Henry, if someone told me they did that, I would roll my eyes  at them – how pathetic does that make ME!  Ha ha ha ha…..

Mine are picky too. They won’t touch parsley or cilantro. They wrinkle their noses at kale. Adult heads of lettuce are definitely not their favorite. This is particularly true with adult romaine. So I buy them a spring mix with baby lettuces and they still pick through that stuff. LOL They aren’t particularly fond of the baby spinach in there, so they will often leave that. I try to get packages that look like they don’t have a lot of spinach in them.

WOW! Henry’s favourite is parsley and KALE! If the veggie shop has no kale when we shop that day, we go back the next to get it! ha ha ha….
Oh, and spinach is not his favourite either – fussy bunnies!!!!!!

Bumpy likes crisp veggies. Kale is his favorite, but he will go for parsley first when offered. I haven’t tried spinach. He hates collard greens and I’m almost positive it’s because they are floppy and not crisp. He will eat it… eventually… but the hubby and I enjoy collard greens way more than Bumpy, so we eat those! About spinach, it’s also not crispy, so not keen on trying it, and I’m kinda scared to buy those packages. It seems like there is always a recall for those ready-mix packages, and I’m terrified of something happening to Bumpy.

AndHenry I swear our bunnies must be long lost twins or soulmates because that is the same way that Lulu is!

manic – I always buy the organic ones. I don’t remember there ever being recalls on those, maybe there has been. There isn’t a lot of baby spinach in there, it’s just part of the mix.

Hmm I think you are right on that LBJ. I guess I can take a look and try a bag. Thanks!
