I think two weeks is just fine – I think sooner is better than later and that gives you time to observe her and write down some questions to ask the vet too.

It can sometimes take longer than 2 weeks (and usually does) for your rabbit to get used to you and trust you – I don’t think that taking her to the vet will tear it all down – it’s an unfortunate necessity and I have to do it quite a bit with my rabbits and while they don’t like going to the vets – they do still like and trust me…it will be the same with your new bunny too :~) She’ll be able to tell that you care about her.

I think I would wait a few more days especially if you feel she is scared – she is probably in sensory overload with all her new surroundings.

I got my bunnies when they were between 7 – 8 weeks old and have been with me for three weeks.
I let them in their cage for 1 day. I did have to open it up to clean the poops so I had to stick my hands in there. On the second day I opened the cage for them to come out and sniffle. They didn’t come out immediately. I sat down by the cage a lot. On the third day they were out binkying and I started hand feeding them pellets. That has really helped with the bonding.

Before that Arya was just sitting in the corner most of the time, seemingly scared. But from the moment she was allowed out she has really changed and is now the first one to come to me.

So my advice, open the cage and let her come to you on her terms. I don’t know what your setup is but a small room with not a lot of distractions might be best.

I had the bunnies for two weeks before I went to the vet. They needed their yearly shots. In two weeks time you can already bond really well!
