I wanted to make sure to clarify — We are not an anti-show or anti-breeding site, (as some people have gotten their bunnies from reputable breeders and we don’t want members, who bought their bunny to feel bad). We prefer to stay out of the bickering division of Rescue vs Breeding. (which is another reason we don’t allow breeding discussions here) We stay focused on the individual bunny as a pet only. While we do strongly encourage and promote adoption, it’s important to note that regardless of where someone gets their bunny, our goal here is to help them stick with the commitment they made or are about to make, and find solutions to many of the challenges that may come with having a rabbit companion. This includes encouraging spay and neutering which would not work with breeding or showing. Due to our focus most of us do not have the experience that would be able to guide you.
Some of the 4-H groups around here actually help in rescue work now. They help out from cleaning cages, help in fundraising events and education I know this is somewhat a new concept for that group, but it seems to be gaining momentum and it’s a great way to help animals looking for a second chance.
Thanks LEL for respectfully replying to this member as I know it can be a hot topic here at times. I just wanted to clarify our main mission here.
