Is poplar safe for bunnies to chew?  I bought some 1 3/8″ dowel rods to make shelf supports  in Lola’s pen and I have a couple of pieces about 4″ long that I trimmed off.  I thought she might play with them, push them around the pen or something, but is poplar safe if she decides to chew on them?

Poplar is fine but since you don’t know the source of the wood. I would sterilize it first by boiling it for a full 20 mins, then let it cool and dry.
