Bonding my trio is pretty much at a standstill at this point so we’re figuring out how to go about marathon bonding but I think we may be doing something wrong to begin with.  So far, my husband and I have been right there in the small neutral area with the bunnies.  I read TanLover14’s bonding blog (great info!) and saw that *we* should not be a distraction to the bunnies’ interaction (which we definitely have been).

If we go for marathon bonding, do we just stay nearby (not *in* their space) to breakup any fights?  If so, would the trio in an x-pen (2 x 4) and us outside the x-pen work?  Food, hay, and water aren’t required for short sessions, but I’m guessing we need to set up the area with those along with a litter box (one?) for extended bonding sessions (5+ hours)?  When you get into the 5, 6, plus hours, do you just eat dinner right there with the bunnies?  I imagine after that many hours, hay is going to start looking pretty tasty!

We’re still at Moshi nipping Kieko and Kieko running and hiding, but have added Marlee (formerly the all-groomer and peacekeeper) taking a turn at doing the tail-in-the air helicopter-ear humping (she only tried to hump Moshi but they made up) try at top bun.  Do you all think we still have a shot at them working things out in marathon bonding?

        Thanks!

Exactly the same situation with me right now. We are trying the marathon bonding, and its working out great. I sit at the table, and the bunnies sit in an pen about 10 feet away. I use the computer, then eat dinner. I also clean the kitchen. This is a total of about 4 hours. I don’t bother with water bowls, I simply provide wet vegetables and hay. My trio is very nippy in the beginning hour or so, but then they settle down and begin snuggling. I have not been stopping them if they nip or have chasing fests that last less than 3 or 4 seconds, or small tussles. I only separate them if they are really biting or fighting, or extended chasing. I don’t use a litter box at this time in the bonding pen as bunnies can get very territorial over their bathrooms, but I will ad one later in the bonding.
I used to also sit in the pen with them but it seems like they act differently when you are there. It is best not to intervene unless somebunny is going to get hurt. I think you have a great chance with marathon bonding, it’s working wonders for my trio!

How’s the bonding going LEL?  I haven’t had a chance to start the marathon thing yet, in fact we’ve pretty much taken a break from bonding because we’ve been working on swapping two rooms (bigger room and play area for bunnies yeah!), painting, shampooing carpets, etc.  Hoping to finish the rooms by this weekend so we can get back to bonding.  Between my husband and I both working full time plus working on the rooms and trying to spend time separately with 2 bonded buns and one single bun . . . sometimes there just needs to be more hours in a day!

Mine are nearly done, I am thinking maybe this weekend.
Keep me updated on how yours goes! Ditto with the more hours in a day. :0
