  Hi everyone,
  
  So I have recently increased Gus’ area and now he is allowed on the sofa.
  
  He has come out of his shell so much since then, and will happily jump up next to me. However, sometimes when he jumps up, I notice a tiny little drip where he has been sitting.
  
  I am unsure what this is…could it be a uti? He is only 14 weeks old? I read that this most commonly affects adult bunnies.
  
  The other thing I was thinking was he is just excited and unable to control his bladder completely yet. Could he be getting excited and letting a little bit of pee out?
  
  The only other thing I can think is it is spraying, as he is not yet neutered. However, I am not sure what spraying would look like. I thought it would be more than just a drip.
  
  Also, I swear that when Ethel has her out time she drips as well.
  
  Has anyone else experienced this?
  
  I would like to get them neutered in a month or so, but I am concerned about doing that if they have a UTI – and how likely would it be that they both have one?
  
  P.s they are both about 3 weeks in to a preventative panacur course but I did find one worm in Gus’ poo once about 4 weeks ago. They are both generally quite good with their litter habits for peeing, I have even witnessed Gus jump off the sofa to use the box (which was quite sweet!)

  I haven’t heard of this… Certainly does not sound like spraying. If he sprays, you’ll know. It’s a big production…
  
  Maybe if he’s relaxing a bit of urine is coming out….? I think I’d probably just keep an eye on both of them, maybe lay a blanket on the couch just in case?

  I guess that I will just have to ask my vet before I book them in for neutering. I wouldn’t want them to undergo an operation if they were not completely healthy…,but maybe they are just young and unable to control themselves fully yet!

  Does it smell really bad? My Gus would leave his scent in places before he was neutered. Threw my OCD into overdrive trying to keep up with that, let me tell you! But I don’t recall actually seeing anything. Just the smell. Since they’re both doing it I wonder if they are kind-of marking?? Stopped as soon as he was neutered.

  No it doesn’t smell bad, it’s very clear as well, almost like water (but it’s definitely not). It’s a tricky one, because i don’t want to get him neutered if he is unwell (if it is a uti (but seems unlikely)) as I don’t want to risk his health, on the other hand, I don’t want to take him to the vet unnecessarily because he doesn’t like it. I am not sure if Ethel is doing it as well – that could have been water or something I suppose, but she could have been.
  
  On that note, how likely is it that both my buns have a UTI….is it catching?
  
  Additionally, I often see large circles of urine splashes on my floor now which I believe to be spray. However, again this is very clear liquid again and does not really smell. I read somewhere that spray would be yellow and smelly. He knows where the litter tray is and uses it well….except fot when he does that. Does spray have to be pungent? Is this what spraying looks like.
  
  If that is spraying, then I really am left wondering what the drips are???
  
  p.s. Love that your bunny’s name is Gus too! Great name

  No, really, I have no idea. Sorry. That was all I could think of. I agree it’s highly unlikely they’d both have UTI, and I’d think you’d see something much more serious going on. Seems like a lot of weird things straighten out after neutering, but I understand your dilemma. I’m going through similar with one of mine.

  I think the urine you’re finding could be spraying or at least marking. Urine can vary greatly in color so very light urine is possible.
  
  I think I would call the vet tomorrow and leave a message. Briefly explain what you’re seeing and ask if the vet wants to do another exam. Is he scheduled for neutering already or does the vet want to see him first to check the progress on the panacur?

  He is not scheduled for neutering yet. The vet said she wanted to wait until he was 5 months if possible but she thought that she might have to get him in early because his testicles were already descended and quite big by 11 weeks! Obviously I would prefer it if I wasn’t cleaning up his spray 5 x per night, but other than that, his temperment is still lovely and I’m not seeing any other behavioural issues (other than the occassion nudging me out of his way lol) so I don’t mind waiting.

  Out of interest, I am really concerned about getting him neutered and have read that although you can get it done as soon as the testicles descend, it is best to wait until they are at a safe weight. Does anyone know what kind of weight that would be for a mini lop? (nervous mum!!!). I would hate for anything to happen to him just because he becoming a little pee monkey, he still seems small (he is 14 weeks)!

  If you have a rabbit savvy vet (which sounds like you have a really good vet!), she’ll be able to be calculate the anesthesia for his weight fine. Boys can be neutered, like you said, when their testicles descend, but it sounds like she prefers to be cautious and wait a bit longer (5 months). That’s fine too.
  
  (There are dwarf breeds that never get very much over one pound FULL GROWN and they are able to be neutered just fine.)

  Thank you all. He is booked in for his neuter on 12th march. The vet is not too concerned about the drips but has offered a full blood test first if I would like
