Hi – Just curious about something, I’ve noticed that my bunbun has a whisker on each of the bottom of her eyes that looks like it has a cyst or a white pimply thing on the base. Are they supposed to grow like that? I didn’t notice them originally but now that I’ve been checking her daily (she has runny eyes) I’ve started to notice it more, can I prick them with a needle and drain it? I’ll try get a picture up when she isn’t running around like crazy – she seems to know whenever I need to photograph her -_-.

She is eating normally, pooping normally and flopping normally.

Red arrows showing approximate whisker location. lol.

What color is the drainage from her eyes? I’ve had that happen, too, and it ended up being a respiratory thing. My rabbit was given eyedrops that fixed the problem. She took really well to them, so it wasn’t a big problem.

it *was* white and gunky, but after baytril its now clearer. I’ve been dousing her eyes with a salt water mix too which seems to be doing better than the baytril actually >_>. I guess time will tell.

Yeah vet prescribed eyedrops will take care of that in a week. It’s about two drops a day IIRC. I’d go with that, only because I don’t know how well salt water will help in the long run.

Okay. I probably wasn’t putting them enough then. Bad me. I’ll probably double check with my vet to see if its ok to start eyedrops again and stick to a set time. I only started doing salty water washes because it seems to sit with bunnybuns better than her eyedrops. I also need to find a way to make her drink baytril easily >_> she freaks when she sees the syringe…. something about the horrible minty smell. She also keeps it in her mouth…then spits it all out after I give it to her lol.

edit. Almost forgot, thanks for all the advice!

The whisker bed of those cheek whiskers are usually pretty prominent. You should see its the same on each side.

                  Vet cute photo!

Okay. I might just be worrying too much then, was a bit weird feeling the bump there. Poor kid probably feels terrorized, I stop now. “What are you doing to my whiskers. Stoppp! X_X”
