Okay, so last year I got my first rabbit, Deutsch. He was very sweet, although shy, and I eventually got him to let me pet his head and let him explore a little bit, when we put the dogs out. So a little while later we noticed he was getting aggressive, and found out that he was getting mature and his hormones were probably making him like this. So that was okay, I let him run around and would only touch him when he was in his cage, as he still will put his nose up for me to rub. We looked into getting him fixed, however our usual vet didn’t do this and said that my rabbit would probably calm down after a few months. He also said that bunnies fight anesthesia, and that a lot of bunnies died in surgery. I decided not to risk it, I don’t think I could handle having a pet die. However, he’s still quite aggressive and bites my mom whenever she tries to feed him. He doesn’t really seem to be getting better, and recently he’s started biting me. He doesn’t seem to have any changes in appetite or anything and runs around like he usually does, so I don’t really think he’s sick. Anyways, my mom keeps threatening to send him away and most recently said if he kept biting her she would be tempted to snap his neck :c I don’t think she would really do it as she loses her temper easily but it worries me a lot. I guess my question is, should I think about giving him away to someone who can get him fixed? Also, should I try again with a new bunny, or do you think this is normal bunny behavior and in that case that bunnies just aren’t the pet for us? I really, really love him and don’t want to give him away but I don’t feel like he’s right for our family… Help?

(Also, any advice if you think I should keep him would help a lot thanks c

Side note: He also runs back to his cage when iI come near and chases the cats who are very much scared of him.

Neutering is the only way to fix this. Your vet does not seem very rabbit savvy, neutering is usually very safe. If you find a good vet, rabbits have less than a 1% chance of dying during a neuter. The neutering operation is very small and male rabbits usually bounce back quickly. Look for an exotics vet.
I think that once he is neutered he will be a great pet.
