Hello, new to this forum, came here looking to ask a question about one of my does.
I have 4 rabbits living together right now, 3 mixed breed does (all I know is that they carry the vienna gene, one is BEW, all are bonded sisters) and a holland lop buck. I never actually see them breed but I just a couple days ago I had a pretty good hunch that one named Daisy is pregnant because she started to gather hay and she was growling at Ferd (the buck). I also noticed that she is eating a lot more than usual. Did try palpating but she bit me.. lol. I separated Daisy into her own little hutch with a nest box, fresh water and food. She is still near her sisters and the buck so she won’t become aggressive- I’ll explain that later. I provided hay bedding and more hay for her. At first it did look like she was building a nest but now she’s stopped. She stays on top of the nest box or is near the door to socialize with the other rabbits. She just eats the hay instead of making a nest.
Is she going through a false pregnancy? I think I’ll have her in there for a week. If nothing happens she can come back and be part of the family again!
About the aggressive thing, I separated my chinchilla mini rex doe because I thought she may have been pregnant, and when I tried putting her back with the gang she was fighting with everyone. When I bring another rabbit to socialize through the cage, she will lunge at the rabbit and bite and gnaw on the cage bars. I’d like to spay her but the lowest in my area is $90 + tax.. Yeah. They don’t offer military discount either. Anyways the cage has become her permanent home since I can’t put her back in the run. I’ll keep trying to slowly integrate though.
