I’m not sure if I’m allowed to create a thread on this topic so if not I apologise and feel free to close it.

But, I’ve thought long and hard, and I need to rehome my 3 bunnies. I’m now working 60 hour weeks and I barely have time to clean them out let alone give them the attention they deserve. I’ve also come to realise that they (well, 2 of the 3) are very smart and despite having several interactive food-based toys that I give them during the day, they’re becoming incredibly restless and destructive. They chew and dig the carpet, they find any way possible to escape their massive penned area to get on my bed and mark on it – all of this suggests to me that they need more time spent on them to keep them occupied.

So really I think rehoming is the best idea. I’ve contacted the Blue Cross and they don’t have space (which I’m quite glad of) but they’re going to advertise the rabbits on the website and as soon as someone’s interested I’ll bring them in. I’ve also printed up posters to put in local shops etc.

I just wanted to post this on here to see if anyone has any better ways of trying to find them a new home? Or even better, if anyone on here is interested, since I know that if a BinkyBunny user were to adopt them I’d get to hear of their progress and know that they’ve gone to a genuine bunny lover.

I’m sorry to hear your having a rough time. If I remember correctly, you were considering rehoming them before, right?

You cannot use BB as a resource to rehome (if we allowed that, we would have dozens of threads every day with people trying to “get rid of” rabbits…)

So it sounds like the rescue is going to work with you and almost have you “foster” them while they are up for adoption. I think that is probably your best option right now.

They are all bonded, right? It’s important that they only be adopted out together if they have a strong bond.

            OK, that’s fair.

Yeah, I was looking at rehoming them before but I was living at home so even if I was caught up at work I could persuade my mum to feed them or give them some attention, but I’ve moved out now.

They are all bonded yes, I’ve made it very clear that they’re not to be separated which I know means rehoming will take longer as there’s 3 of them, but they’re brothers who’ve never been apart and I don’t know how they’d be if they didn’t have each other’s company now.

There are people who are looking for pairs… If the rescue can “market them” positively, I think they may be adopted quickly. Their complete history is known, they are brothers, they are absolutely beautiful, they are neutered, AND they are under a year old. They have all of this going for them! Give the rescue some pictures of them that show they are all uniquely colored Dutch bunnies.

I am so sorry to hear this Annabel93 – I too remember the last time you were questioning whether you could/should keep your bun’s – you must be devastated now that you have made the decision. Just wanted you to know I remember you fondly and I’m sorry it didn’t work out for you, as I know you so desperately wanted it to. I’ll keep you and your bun’s in my thoughts – let us know how it all goes. Wishing you all the best Annabel93.

Thanks for the tips They want me to bring them in for a health check and to get some pictures taken but I’ll be sure to bring lots of my own as they’re guaranteed to show the bunnies in a more positive light than they will look sat nervous and confused in a strange place.

God, I’m getting all tearful writing this now! I’m just really hoping that they’ll go to someone who will really love them and treat them properly.

I’m sorry to hear you are having a hard time and have to give up your buns. It sounds like the shelter is going to help you find them a good home. I wish you and the buns lots of luck.
