So, Moogle barely sheds… but Ashe makes up for it ten fold. She has been shedding non-stop since her spay. It’s to the point where I can’t keep up. I was grooming twice a day, but now she is shedding so much it’s making fur floors on the fleece shelves . I have a furminator, a regular cat brush, and I wet my hands all twice a day. Does anyone have any tips for a very hairy bunny? lol

How long since the spay? Seems like their shedding cycles last forever, then they just stop. Hope you have a good vacuum. Ha ha

I definitely feel for ya! Both my buns are starting their molt. The change in light outside will often trigger a shed. My house is full of flying fur tuffs!

My horse is also shedding right now. Yesterday I got half a wheel barrel off her! Tis’ the season.

She’s a year and two months now, so I would say 6 months ago at least. She’s not a long haired rabbit but her fur is VERY thick. My parents have horses, and I remember brushing them when the began to shed lol. It looked like fluffy snow.

I feel for you Jessie – my boy started moulting (just counting on my finger’s…..) gee, just easier to say ‘within weeks of bringing him home’! and I’ve had no relief since (sad face). My house resembles one from the decade where everything covered in velvet and fluffy fur was a fashion statement (less the velvet). Just last night, after taking a sip of my water I had to remove a bunny hair from my tongue – GROSS! Sadly, I think your already doing all that you can, so I’m just offering my condolences – it is dreadful! Whoops, just had to move my leg to let a fumbleweed (fur tumbleweed) to brush past me…… dam bunny!

Completely understand how frustrating it must be for you! Emilee sheds all the time, like it’s her job. At least you can groom Ashe, it’s always a struggle to brush Emilee, stresses us both out. I’ve seen a video from one of the regular BB members using a vacuum tube to suck up all the loose hairs on her bun. You could try that if Ashe isn’t scared of vacuums or try lint rollers! They’re the quickest method that I’ve found and great for loose hairs. They have ones specifically for pets if you’re worried about them being too sticky, but you can always roll the new sheets on something before rolling on their fur.

We’ve tried the lint roller idea lol. Used all the roller in two days… It worked well, but it would be very expensive Also, Ashe is hard to do anything to, so she is not easy to groom I just have to be patient and do a lot of petting.

Friends!! United in molting bunny fluff!! Apollo is the worst for shedding. Whenever I hold him, carry him or pet him, I have to run the sticky lint remover over myself to get all the fur off!
-Sigh- there isn’t much more you can do….

“Everything tastes better with fur” LOL!!!

Spaying a dog can result in constant shedding and a change of fur-quality. This can right itself after some time, and by time I mean years. This happened to my bridge dog Nala when she was spayed due to pyo. Her fur became courser (individual hairs) and thicker (coat), and she shed constantly. Wasn’t possible to get a comb or brush through it. Then after 2-3 years her fur became soft and shiny and good again. When she had to leave us for the Rainbow Bridge at age 12,5 her fur was so Lovely that the vet said you could never tell she was sick by looking at her fur, but she was so sick (cancer) that we had to let her go.

Fatty acids of the kind that’s found in borago plants are said to be good for “spayed fur”. I don’t think you need to give the actual oil, there may be small amounts in the plant itself. It’s bunny-safe but my picky boys will of course have nothing to do with it =/ The pretty blue flowers are nice in a salad though (for humans).
