For over a year, my sweet dwarf Bella has had a tender spot on her cheek that she flinches at every time I try and go near it. When she saw the vet a year ago, the vet said it may be her molars and that eventually she’d need a trim. Well I brought Bella back in at the beginning of the month to see if we’d need them trimmed and she checked her teeth and felt what now seems to be a lump in Bellas jaw/cheek and said that it is possibly an infection and could be an abcess but they’d have to do further testing. Well I decided to just go the medicine route (as much as I hate to) and if anything, Bellas cheek seems more swollen and she is especially ornery. She is undoubtedly in loads of pain. This is probably something that would require surgeries and I’ve read all the abcess stories out there and these things always seem to return so I’m not going to expose her to any unmitigated stress. Nor do I have the money for her to get a bunch of procedures done. Anyway my question is, is there anything I can give her or anything I can do that can alleviate her pain or possible kill the bacteria that might be causing this? I read that a lot of people have used Manuka honey, but that was external. Would that have any internal benefit and is it even safe? Any and all suggestions welcome
