Hi!    I am new to Rabbit Care I don’t have one yet but I will get one, right now I have 2 hamsters.  What type of rabbit food should I get?  I have heard good things about the Supreme Hazel Hamster for hamsters, but what about Supreme Russel Rabbit for Rabbits?

I just looked that up and I don’t recommend that – it has those bits and pieces that aren’t good for rabbits.

A favorite on the board is Oxbow – any of their rabbit food but the Basics is what most members use.

I also like American Pet Diner.

              Welcome to BB!

You want a plain pellet. Mixes with seeds and other stuff are really bad for rabbits.

Some good options for adult rabbits are:
Oxbow Essentials Adult, Oxbow BeneTera, Kaytee Timothy Complete Adult, Kaytee Forti-Diet Pro Health Adult, Sweet Meadow Timothy Pellets, Zupreem Timothy Naturals, and Zupreem Nature’s Promise.

These fall a little outside of the recommendations but are still good:
Oxbow Natural Science, American Pet Diner Timmy Rabbit, Purina Fiber3 Rabbit Chow, and Sherwood Maintenance.

                Hello,
I agree with MoveDiagonally, plain pellets are best. My bunny is happy with any basic brand from Walmart or any pet supply store. A good quality hay in unlimited amounts should always be available so you will only need a couple of handfuls of pellets a day to supplement with the hay if you want to feed pellets.

I use Kaytee Timothy Complete Adult because my bunny is 2 years old. I believe it will depend on whether or not you adopt a baby or an adult regarding what food you want to give him/her. There is alfalfa pellets for babies.
