  So this little guy…
  
  …has discovered that he can shimmy his way under his bunny abode condo. (Here’s a link to the codo: http://www.leithpetwerks.com/prodpage.cfm?prod_code=BA100) The width between the carpet and the condo (which is on castors) is no more than two inches, if that, but he can somehow get under. He did it the other night and, once he got himself out, was so full of static electricity that when I went to make sure he was alright there was a visible shock when I touched him. His fur was doing all sorts of crazy things too because of the charge.
  
  I am now trying to brainstorm ways to prevent this from happening again. Pip barely fit and I don’t want him to get stuck under there and start to panic. I also use it as a barrier and don’t want him to realize he can get out by going under the cage.
  
  I do move the cage on a regular basis so really like the wheels. It was also pretty pricey; I don’t want to give up on it all together. Maybe a wooden “skirt” of some sort, kind of like a bed skirt? It is right in my living room so I would like it to look somewhat nice. Any one have any ideas?
  
  P.S. For anyone who saw my previous posts about a broken bond between Dobby and Pip, I’m happy to report that they are back together. After a couple weeks break I ended up rebonding them myself. I still haven’t given them full access to the living room. I plan to do that very slowly. But they’ve been content hanging out with each other in a partitioned section of the apartment and tomorrow I will be leaving them together while I’m at work.

  He is fully grown (all 1 1/2 pounds of him) so it would need to be a permanent thing. I think the cubes would be too big. But thanks for the suggestion.

  Put something under it, like a folded up mat or drill a hole into some 1 x 2s and ziptie those to the wheels?

  The mat is a good temporary solution until I can get to a hardware store and look at more permanent options. Thanks!

  What about getting some wood trim that you can drill into the bottom of the cage on the edges? Just measure the length between the wheels & place trim on the bottom somehow basically to extend it to the ground while still allowing you to freely move the cage around? I’d make it to where it was close to the ground but not touching all the way so that you can move it without the extra wood dragging. Does this make sense?

  I know rats have a flexible rib cage to help them squeeze into small spaces…but I’m amazed that lil guy can fit in a 2 inch gap! If your cage base is wooden you can try gluing 1 – 1.5 inch wood trim to stop this. Hardware stores like Lowes/Home Depot have tons of options and they can cut it for you too. Wood glue is crazy strong, just make sure to clean and wipe off the excess if it overflows.

  bunnnnnnie! – I’m going to assume you mean more pictures of the bunny in question. I don’t really have any good ones of the cage. So without further ado, here’s more Pip (orange, 1 1/2 pounds) and some Dobby (black, 2 pounds and a few ounces)…
  
  Here are Pip and Dobby relaxing in their cage. Pip’s position looks incredibly uncomfortable but I’ve seen him napping that way on several occasions.
  
  Here’s Pip blocking Dobby in the corner by playing dead…
  
  And here is an aerial view showing how Dobby seems like a giant next to Pip…
  
  Thanks for all of the suggestions on additions to the cage. I will figure out when I can do a Home Depot run and see what I can get there. I’ll let you know how it all turns out. In the meantime, I’m shoving a blanket underneath the cage whenever I leave them alone.

  Both buns have names that suit them perfectly. <3 <3
  
  A really simple solution would be to remove the casters and replace with furniture carpet protectors.
  e.g. Like these Teflon ones:

  You’d just need ones that have a profile that is enough to give the condos wood trim clearance from the carpet. Keeping in mind the condos weight depressing the carpet depending on how cushioned it is.
  
  If the condo is not terribly heavy, it shouldn’t be too much trouble to slide it when you need to move it.
  ETA: you might even be able to hammer a series of small sliders into the wood trim itself though from the pictures, it’s hard to gauge how thick the wood is.

  Thanks, jerseygirl. I know I am horrible about pictures. My mobile is not smart and pictures from my camera take a long time to make it to my computer, where they generally languish for an even longer time before I do anything with them.
  
  And you have an interesting idea for the cage. Another thing to check out while I’m at Home Depot.

  They’re so adorable, I think I would need about 8-9 of Pip to equal a Zeus!!!
