Anyone out there that feeds there rabbits basils to smell nice? My grandpa brought basils and fed Donut even before I knew that it will start smelling nice from that.  Now, grandpa even planted basil in our mini garden.

I don’t know about smelling nice but my buns love basil, it’s almost their favourite after wild fennel fronds…. I have noticed that during our heat waves when I have not been able to gather fennel due to increased Tiger Snake activity that their pee is a bit more pungent.
I love my buns but I am not risking being bitten by a Tiger Snake to get their favourite bedtime nosh.

Oh, wow. Tiger snakes. Be careful of those!
I should try fennel too. My rabbit’s pee doesn’t smell strong but just to see the difference. Maybe Donut will end up liking it better than basil.

Basil and Parsley are part of my buns regular morning eats anyway.

I was going to say that I haven’t noticed them smelling any different because of it…
But now that I think about it, Daisy, our new bun smells very much like a rabbit… There is just a pet shop/rabbit type odour around her, the other two don’t smell at all… Or at least don’t smell of anything that registers as not the norm…

But, we have a house full of all sorts… Cats, Rabbits, Ferrets and so on… So, maybe they and we al stink to high heaven, but we’re just used to it… *shrugs*

That line made me laugh for some reason.

lolol it made me laugh too.

I remember how musky my ferrets would get, it never bothered us at all. But you know those friends, the ones that don’t think animals belong in the house… yea.. they aren’t the ones you ask if there is a smell!

I was growing basil in a pot, need to keep doing that on rotation, because now that you mention it, I have noticed that his urine smells a bit stronger than I remember it…

I tried basil recently, my bun didn’t even try it. He’s finicky. He doesn’t like parsley either…but cilantro is his favorite.

Calipa, Bumpy was the exact same way, with cilantro, basil AND parsley… his reaction to the cilantro was comical, it was like me running from a cantaloupe. BUT with that said… I just kept offering the parsley on his plate and one day he decided to give it a chance and suddenly it was his favorite. The basil and cilantro were in pots, so I just placed them in his pen and let him graze as he wanted. After 3 or 4 days, he started nibbling the basil, and about a week or so later he had fully mowed it down. Cilantro took a bit longer for him to nibble on, but that too was eventually destroyed.

Now his favorite is kale, above all else, if there is kale on the plate, that will be pulled out first. I swear they are just lil kids.

Basil might just be the reason why my bun’s urine doesn’t smell strong? & yes, I agree with the friends part. My mom keeps on saying my room stinks, & I feel it smells of basil everywhere.
