so the heat isnt getting better, the ac isnt getting fixed and now he is having some smaller poos in between the rgular ones! its so bad that babies in diapers only under ac’s are getting heat rash! ive given him as much water as i can in the bowl and bottle and kept it cool… but im worried! so… im thinking 2 possibilities either increase the veggies or syringefeed water? what do yall think?

he has also been sneezing! like 2-3 times over 2-3 hours(ive had horrible allergies because of the dust from the heat) so do you think it can be allergies? and when should i get concerned?

thanx for all the advice! i think ill be better off once ive had him for one of each season! hahaha then ill know what to do and what to expect!

If you syringe feed water you have to be careful not to aspirate that would be a concern with that. If he is thirsty he should drink. How hot is it where you live?

I’m pretty confident with a syringe(use them with premies at work often), but he seems to be fine now! Playing and stealing toilet paper and leaving good pea sized regular poos all over! Its 33-36 degrees C(79 F) and 40% humidity, and my AC is broken! So its pretty uncomfortable! (Not as hot as in Aus apparently-eish-thinking of all of the Aus people) I think he just waited for sundown and cooler air! I’ve done all I can to cool down his cage but thinking of letting him sleep outside tonight? He likes it under the bed ? Think that’s a bad idea? I’m home alone tonight, so he will only bother me if anyone… But I’ve tried many times and then I chicken out and cage him for the night…

I think under the bed is fine if that is what he wants. I think he would be more uncomfortable outside especially if he’s not an outside rabbit – noises and stuff would probably make him anxious.

I think if you feel confident it would be fine to syringe feed him some water if you feel he needs it.

You could try freezing some water bottles for him to lay next to, to cool down, or put an ice cube in his water bowl for him to lick. I don’t think you need to force water, he’ll drink when he is thirsty. Rabbits are also most active at dawn and dusk naturally, so if he vegs out during the day it’s normal behavior. Dutchess often sneezes two or three times in a row, she is just keeping her nose clear. 79F isn’t scorching hot, the big signs of overheating are if he starts to pant or has hard a time breathing, refuses to move at all, and his body is very hot to the touch like a fever. I think your boy is doing fine It isn’t always a good idea to free range a rabbit at night unless your room is completely rabbit proofed, mine loves to dig up the carpet so it wouldn’t be possible for her.

Thanx! I’ve decided against letting him sleep outside(its about 9pm here now) but he has other idees! And the bugger just figured out how to open his cage(shake vigorously at the right spot) but he stopped once I switched off the lights(no way he is gona be in his cage if mom is still up-hahaha) I do the waterbottles in sock and he doesn’t seem to like the ice vubes in the water! Somehow takes it out and makes a mess all over! I’m thinking that maybe the small poo was cause of the stress(cleaners were here all day to clean carpets and couches etc) but ill keep a close eye on him! The heat is a lot compared to the lovely mild mid 20 to 30 degrees C we are use to! This is a heat wave for us! Hahaha and the relief seems to drift away in small dark clouds raining everywhere but here!

Thanx for the advice! Maybe at some point ill let him sleep outside his cage! But for now… Ill tie the latch!
