I have three bunnies, none of them fixed, two males and a female. We keep them separate because we’re saving up to get the two older ones fixed (and the other is a foster bun who we’re trying to find a home for). The female bunny is house-trained, so she’s free to roam the house as she pleases. We have the two males in their own room separated from the female by two pet gates stacked on top of the other. Our older male rabbit somehow got out of his cage, jumped over the two pet gates, knocking them over, and got loose into the house. The other male bunny, who was running lose in the male bunny room at the time, got loose too.
They were all alone for maybe ten minutes, which is obviously enough time for the female to get pregnant, but then something confusing happened. The female bunny was hopping around the two males making a weird honking noise and putting herself to the ground with her bum up in the air, but both male rabbits were completely ignoring her. The older male licked her a few times and stomped his foot once, but wouldn’t mount her or anything.
I’m confused because we’re automatically assuming she got pregnant, but we read that signs of pregnancy are more of the female rabbit acting angry towards the male and rejecting him…not the other way around. This happened about four or five days ago. The female bunny is still happy, cuddly, and energetic also.
Confused..please help.
