Hi there! This thread might seem a little strange, but… I have a lionhead bunny, his name is Bear. When I adopted him on Halloween he had just turned 1 year old, so he’s about 14 months old now. The previous owner had gotten him from a pet store so there’s no knowing his genetics (or his real age, for that matter). All I know is that he has most/all of the typical lionhead characteristics, so the pet shop was right about his breed.

Anyways, recently his ears have been “lopping” a lot. He has big ears for an “uppy” bunny, and they’re sort of flat, like a lop. He also has a very wide crown like a lop would (his ears are on either side of his head rather than in the middle). Over the past few weeks, his ears have been “lopping” more and more often. Mostly when I’m petting him his ears will go down into lop-mode, but for the past few days it’s also been happening when he’s just relaxing. I took a picture but my camera won’t connect to the computer for some reason… but when he does it, it looks just like he’s a full-on lop.

My question is, how is this possible? I know that he could definitely have some sort of lop in his genetics, but wouldn’t he have shown traits of it before now? He’s over a year old and has just been starting to do this. It’s getting progressively more and more often. Is there a chance he’ll end up being a full-time lop at some point? His ears are still up most of the time, but like I said, more often than before he’s been “lopping”.
