I have a 6.5 year old bunny, he never had any health problems before but i noticed in the last few days he has not been eating any hay/dry food and pellets and only a small nibble of fresh greens. he is barely pooping and his droppings are tiny compared to normal. I noticed today he had drool around his chin area ( i couldnt get him to lift his chin for me to see properly) so i took a mirror and saw he has a large red sore (maybe an abscess or tumor) he is still running around and doesnt seem to be in pain. i did get him to eat some banana. I have no money for the vet right now at all. I dont know what to do, should i put neosporin on it. If he gets worse and is in pain, i will have no option but to put him to sleep because i cant afford surgery/dental work ect..

Hi Shareen, you really do need vet care for this… Have you discussed your financial situation with your vet to see if they can work out a payment plan. Many vets will do that now… One of mine has a credit service specifically for that purpose, I had to use it when one of my cats needed surgery several months ago. In the states I believe there is something called CareCredit that is very popular and maybe there is a family member that would be able to assist if you can pay them back in small regular amounts… Sometimes euthanasia is as costly treatment, if it is a simple matter of antibiotics then you could find treatment is the cheaper option. You could also try contacting a local rescue they may be able to help… There are also options like a “gofundme” account or a simple call out to friends on Facebook with the vets account details for donations.. That has worked very well for some friends that had similar situations and everyone in the group has happy to give a few dollars to help save their pet.

Keep trying to entice him with any food he will eat and try to get him to take water…..Give his tummy a light massage to keep things moving.
I really don’t know about the neosporin without seeing the mark and even then I am not qualified to give veterinary advice and would hate to say yes or no and be wrong.

It is very possible this is dental spurs and those need trimming. It does require vet care – I would contact your vet as Roberta suggested about possible payment plans.
