Meet the newest member of the clan…

We haven’t named her yet and won’t be able to bring her home until Monday (she’s getting spayed then)… but we adopted this adorable little French Angora from the shelter today! We have to re-name her as they had her named “Frazier”, LOL. Which I thought was a male name…. Any ideas?? She’s a year old and comes with a clean bill of health and is absolutely lovable as all heck. She adores cuddles and pets as we got to spend our Humane Society Bunny Romp time with her. I went in to volunteer today and instead ended up adopting her! Lucky little bun bun…
OMG! A 6th bunny?!
She’s gorgeous. Fluffy for symmetry.
Fleury, Sidney, Tanger, Simba, Nora and….. Chloe? Quinn? Bella?
What a cutie!!!! =D
What about Nellie?
awes
she looks kinda like a llama so I want to say name her lama
Aww! Your going to to have a little bunny herd!
She has so much energy! So something with attitude, LOL. The whole time out while I volunteered she just binkied everywhere. She’s so gorgeous. We are so excited to have her home on Monday even though she’ll be coming directly from her spay so we won’t get much interaction.
I’m partial to Sophie but the boyfriend vetoed. Nellie reminds me of Little House on the Praire!
She needs a name with spunk for sure!
Kcom, everyone at the rescue said she reminded them of an alpaca? Is that how you spell it?? Haha!
And symmetry for sure… three fluffs and three Tans! I asked the breeder we got the Tans from her opinion on what she looked like – she guessed a French Angora mixed with a double-maned Lionhead as she has a small patch of fur on her back that’s short but it’s a REALLY small patch. And all the fur on her face. Since English Angoras are the only ones with fur on the face and she said she’s definitely not that. So she’s going to be my little Angora fluffer. AND we have three girls and three boys now!
llamas have attitude ![]()
LMAO. I am not naming her Llama, lmaoooooo. Although I die every time I read that.
Although… I may be working on Bella…. Chloe is the name of my ex-friends baby and Quinn reminds us of Detective Quinn from Dexter, LOL.
Keep the names coming though!!!
LOL love dexter
I said name her Lama with only one L, I was going to say Luna
Luna is pretty!
I will have to run that by the boyfriend… if any of you were around doing Nora, you’ll know last time this was a WHOLE process.. LOL.
Luna, Bella, maybe Belle, I’m still stuck on Sophie…
I’ll probably know first from facebook, at first I was like awes she’s looking at bunnies but she has 5 already is she really that crazy to get another one?!?! lol the answer is yes apparently
but good crazy. She doesn’t look as fluffy on facebook
Cria is what you call a baby llama. =D
OMG yes Cria ![]()
Congrats on the new bunny she is so cute! I like the name Cria it sounds pretty and unique.
Kcom – she’s not the same bun bun on Facebook! hahahaha! I haven’t posted her to Facebook yet – we don’t want to tell anyone in the family yet as they will all think we are absolutely nuts. And we will get lectures. So we have yet to actually announce. Only a few choice people and my BB family know!
Those pics were just pics from random buns up for adoption at the Humane Society! I wasn’t even looking then!
Well, I guess I wasn’t looking today either. But yeah, so we haven’t posted her on Facebook yet. She is DEFINITELY that fluffy though. Nothing but fur everywhere. She literally looks like a walking mop head. And when she runs her HUGE butt skirt is flopping along… it’s sooo adorable!
Thank you, Sindriona! Which made me just think I really like the name Fiona also…
Cria? HAHAHAHA. You guys have some unique names. I’m not sure I’ll even be able to actually pick one until she comes home and we can see her. You know how sometimes the name just fits? And you have to choose that one???
Fiona is a nice name as well. I agree sometimes you have to be around them to pick a name. I remember getting my dog Suki I was looking at her and her 2 brothers and I picked her up and I said t o her you look like a Suki and that’s how she got her name. Whatever you choose she sounds like she will be a great addition to the family!
Maybe something from these lists for a name…
I’m thinking of using some of them for any future bunnies I get. 🙂
How about Chignon… After all she is a little bun…. ![]()
Roberta, I just realized I have caught up with you haven’t I?!!??!?!?
She IS a little bun. 3.5 lbs exactly…. which I’m pretty sure a whole pound of that is nothing but fur.
Chignon… Chiggy for short! Hahahaha, it may be catching my fancy…
Or Nonni
Almost caught up, with Starsky I am at 7… I gave him his Gnomish warren name last night….
His Gnomish name is Flickestrom Tinkerbloomers
as much as i have a compulsory tendency to brush the longhaired buns at TTAS, they have never had a french angora, just plenty of satin angoras and jersey wooleys.. can i borrow her for an hour
Hahahaha, Roberta… you keep me on my toes!
LongHairedMike! LOL. She is definitely some sort of oddball though because the French don’t have all the hair on their face. Although the pictures make it look a little worse. She has puffs on her head but her face doesn’t have much fur at all so maybe. I’ll have to take more photos and we can all see what the consensus is when I get her home!
Both Piglet and Blossom had almost lion head like mohawks when they were little… Blossom still has the fringe..
This little girl is estimated to be 11 months – 1 year though! She’s not little like Nora was!
French angoras are like…. 10lbs. How’d you get French angora from that tiny thing? ![]()
I see the lionhead, but when I think French angora… I think big!
She is ADORABLE, nonetheless. I like the name Cria. Perhaps… Fuzzy Wuzzy?!?
or…
Ahh, I’m awful at names.
Ill just sit here all jealous, lol ![]()
I know the feeling when you meet them and the name just comes to you… That’s how Charlie got her name… I just though Charlie and knew instantly that was her name…
we are, however, struggling with the opposite for a name for our cat – we just can’t think of anything!
We just call him fat cat.. We’ve had him like 3 months now! Maybe we’ll just call him fat cat forever… Sweet buddy..
the second photo looks like she doesn’t even have feet. ![]()
Thanks, Cochin! You’re right – I’ve never thought about an Angora for myself so I’ve never googled anything about them. Which also explains why the breeder thought French Angora/Lionhead cross. She’s my oddball but I love her. Fat Cat, lmao! Poor fat cat! My boyfriend told me to present him five names tomorrow and he will try and pick from them. Ha! He won’t like any of them and we will be back to the drawing board.
BunnyDaddy, I don’t think she really has anything but fur. Yesterday at the romp they kept saying she looked like a Pomeranian when she jumped around.
If we had a spunky girl bun – we wanted to name her Delilah or Jezebel… Bad girls from the Bible 🙂
oh I was like she looked similar to the one you posted on FB but I was like she’s not as fluffy this explains why lol who cares if your family thinks you’re nuts we want to get another bunny along with our current bunny and a dog that is learning to be ok with bunnies, we can have Jake (the dog) a foot away from Caleb and they just ignore each other the only time Jake reacts to Caleb in the same room is if Caleb is zoomying and binkying but we always keep him on leash sitting right next to us keeping ahold of the leash. Other times they are in separated rooms
ahahahahhahah! I love it Baxter, I actually suggested Delilah and the boyfriend vetoed that!
We have gotten lectures every time we have brought another home! LOL. It’s annoying really. Even from our friends who I don’t think have any right to say anything…. but…. yeah, we are waiting to get her home and possibly bonded before telling anyone who would say anything.
Also her spay surgery is tomorrow (which is why we couldn’t bring her home yet) and I’m beginning to freak out! I don’t know any of the vets there but I know Rabbit Wranglers has used them a ton and obviously they do a lot of rabbits but stilllll… I’m so nervous for her!
OK people, the boyfriend said to get it down to 5 names and he will try and pick from them…
1) Sophie
2) Bella or Belle
3) Kora or Cora (Maybe?)
Hmm…. I need like cute girl (that aren’t too close to Fluffy type of names…)
Oh my gosh she’s so cute I love her!!
I vote Belle!
*cuteness overload*
Maybe she’s just a really fluffy double maned lionhead?
I do like Sophie, but I think you’re right about maybe it doesn’t fit her cuteness. Hehe, you could name her Sophie and then call here Fifi.
What about Maisy?
Did the breeder surrender her? And he/she didn’t know…that is not the sign of an experienced or competent breeder…she looks like a Satin Angora to me definitely not a French Angora.
Since you have 2 other fluffies, an angora is not going to be any different. She’s pretty.
My husband’s niece’s name is Elodie if you are looking for pretty French names…reminds me of melody. I also like Jolie which means beautiful or pretty or something like that.
A lady and her son apparently bought her from a breeder 4 months ago. They had her birthday listed as 12/22/12 (according to the breeder). The bun bit her son apparently this lady was rabbit-savvy because she said she had other rabbits but this one just wasn’t right for her family. I wonder if the bun was for the child because all the surrender papers listed her as cautious and likes to bite. She is absolutely the sweetest thing ever though. She is VERY social and comes running right up to you and loves to just lay in your lap all sprawled out. She also LOVED to snuggle up against you. So I think the stress of the child is probably what caused her behavior. There were also dogs right next door (with only a divider between them) and she wasn’t even phased by them. So who really knows. The lady said the breeder told her she was a French Angora. She is only 3.5 lbs. So French definitely does not make sense. I was trying to google some about the different types last night – I will post more pics so you guys can see what I mean by her fur and such when she is finally home and settled and healed from her spay.
Elodie! I really like that! I’ll have to convince the boyfriend of a few and let him make the final. He can’t think of any hence the reason he told me to bring him a list of ones I liked, LOL.
I do like Maisy also, as I was thinking Daisy at some point. But Tessie, Belle is actually REALLY growing on me. Both Belle and Bella! hahahah! It’s so hard naming them!
That size really does sound like a Lion Head or Jersey Wooly but a JW has short fur on the head like a French Angora.
OH MY GOSH!!!! MUST BUN-NAP!! SOOOOO ADORABLE!
If she was mine I’d name her cotton, or cotton ball! haha
I do like Sophie, though. =)
I need to come on here more often. WOW! I love her. Can’t wait till you have her home! ^.^
I can’t either – and don’t you know…
Nora decides she wants to go into stasis tonight… poor Girl. Hopefully the new little one isn’t too bad after her spay tomorrow. Fluids and CC for TWO buns at the same time would be insane! Anyways, I have lots of cilantro, basil, oregano, thyme, and mint ready for the little one when she comes home from her spay!
OMG SHE’S A CUTIE!!! I can see how you couldn’t resist taking this little one home… I love volunteering at the local HRS, but it is so dangerous when you’re surrounded by sweet buns that look at you like “Please get me out of here!” I still can’t believe you got another one, you are crazy and yet so amazing!
What did the bf say or do when you first brought her home? I really like Fiona, you can call her Fii or Fifi for short. Nala or Kiara would be cute since you have a Simba in there lol.
Wow just look at that fur! She could easily star in a shampoo ad (for pets) lol. I think all of the names of your short list sound great. Congrats!
cOngrats! she is soo cute and really is a perfect addition to your clan of tans and fluffies!
btw I can’t help smiling at the visual of a bouncing mop head haha
Angelica came to mind when looking at her pic… her angora aspect and I’m thinking Angelica on Rugrats for her spunk hehe g’Luck picking a name! ![]()
Holy moly, tanlover! You just don’t know when to quit!
The good news is, it’s not hoarding as long as you can afford them… ![]()
Seriously though, congrats on your new girl. She’s beautiful! It felt so rewarding to adopt Oscar but now that seems small in comparison to how many bunny lives you have changed so far. Keep it up!
Sorry but I have no good name suggestions, I’ll keep thinking though…
Hahahahaha, I know Hazel
She really IS gorgeous though.
She’s finally home recovering from her spay. She was munching on veggies earlier so I’m happy about that! She’s just been hanging out in her litter box for most of the rest of the night though. Her incision looks a lot worse than the others did – not bad necessarily… just… not as clean cut I guess? Idkkk. Maybe I’m being paranoid since I didn’t know the vet.
So I’m back to square one with names… Cora and Nora we can’t do – the boyfriend vetoed Belle or Bella and I was really pushing for Sophie but just realized a good friends cat is named Sophie… So we are back to Square One and now I can’t think of anything else I like!!!!
I still like Cria! LOL =p
Um, what about Priscilla?
Posted By tanlover14 on 12/09/2013 10:11 PM
I was really pushing for Sophie but just realized a good friends cat is named Sophie… So we are back to Square One and now I can’t think of anything else I like!!!!
Ok this made me laugh. Are you planning to have your bun and Sophie the cat together and worried they will get confused when you call out the name? hehehe, I am sure your friend wont mind you using the same name!
She’s adorable! Naming is difficult so I’m going to throw some names out there as well.
I do love Cria though, lol.
Iridessa, Eglantina, Ellette, Faylinn, Lorelle, Gelsey, Nissa, Odette, Rhoswen, Nerida, Annis, Ellyllon, Annwyn, Mazikeen, Nunnehi, Roane.
Those were all fairy related, whoops. They sound amazing though.
Tessa, Sonia, Elisa, Anna, Jenna
I hope she has a good recovery! What names does your boyfriend like?
Nala, Kiara, Fiona, Nica, Clio, Tessie, Piper, Zoe
Cleo, Chloe, Shasta, Scout
How would you pronounce Cria? Like Cr-ee-a? I don’t think I like it if that’s the pronunciation. We have however agreed upon one name… but it hasn’t been officialized or anything… but the boyfriend said if I wanted it she could be named…
Lacey! What do you guys think??
I hate Priscilla, ahhahahah! I still really like Sophie (njbun) BUT the boyfriend refuses to use the name.. Big Le Sigh. I could possibly get behind Faylinn. I also like Fiona but that reminds him of this TV show we watch. Clio and Zoe I also tried but he vetoed. Chloe was also vetoed! LOL.
Btw, she has done very well after her spay. Incision is looking great and she hasn’t been messing with it thank Goodness after the horror that was Nora. She began munching on her veggies last night and ate her whole dish today but I haven’t seen her really eat much pellets AT ALL. We’ve offered them to her all last night and today and I’m not really sure she ate any. It seems she ate a good amount of hay though – either that or trampled it all. But I’m pretty confident she ate a good amount.
That sounds like my Lady Nermal De Nomnoms, she loves her hay and her vegies but pellets are just something that get a passing nibble if the hay tray is running low. Pascal, Piglet and Starsky are the only ones that really love their pellets… Maybe it’s a boy thing.
I think she looks like a Cynthia, so cute!
OK… Here’s a few more..
Allete, Audra, Calanthe, Chante, Claribel, Macey, Maude, Zura
Cree-ah
It also means baby in Spanish. Since she looks like a little alpaca, I think it fits. LOL
Hmm, Lacey. That’s what my grandma wanted my name to be. It’s kinda cute.
Cria was hard-core vetoed by the boyfriend. Hahaha!
I think we may stick with Lacey… Maybe…
I like Lacey. It would suit her. ![]()
You know, you could just do what my husband does. I name a pet something and he doesn’t like it. So he just repeatedly calls it the name he likes until it finally sticks.
It’s official – she’s Lacey!

<img src="https://binkybunny.com/wp-content/uploads/converted_files/Portals/0/activeforums_Attach/350_image.jpg" border="0" class="afimg" trying to post more pics of her via my phone but I'm not sure if it will actually work. If not, I will upload them tomorrow!
Congrats to you and the BF on the new fur baby.
Very pretty & FLUFFY bunny you’ve got there!
Lacey really suits.
Thank you so much, Jersey!
I need help on grooming her…. Oy. Everything is stuck to her fur. SO many mats and there’s a large-ish mat around one of her eyes. My eyes are boogling at cleaning her fur, LOL. Hmmm. I’m trying not to stress her out much since she was just spayed but these mats… Oy.
Welcome to the joy of Angora……. The matts get pretty impressive, if you can manage get yourself some good scissors and an electric trimmer or do what I do and get a professional in (after accidently nicking Piglet once I can’t take the stress of doing it myself, I’d rather hold onto him and get the licks and nibbles)
Lacey is a gorgeous name! It suits her perfectly.
The pictures you posted aren’t showing up, but I’d love to see them.
if its anything like satin angora, you want to do a plucking session first, start around the base of the tail, back of the hind legs, and belly first,, a lot of mats will start there, but it is also the fur that loosens so easily, you will not need much of any effort to clear the whole area. the beard area is hardest since they witl fight you and you often have to pick the mats apart before attempting to pluck
Someone suggested a blow dryer on the cool air setting? Putting her in the tub on my lap and blowing and brushing together? Anyone try this?
Thank you both for the suggestions and help. Literally my mind reels every time I attempt to groom her. I don’t even really know where to start. We got two furminators (the one is more comb-like, the other brush-like) and I have the old brush we first got for the Tans to help ease them out but it seems nothing is really getting these out. Everything on the bottom and sides of her has mats. It doesn’t help she was three weeks at the shelter with limited (if any) grooming. The mat around her eye I’m really having trouble with. I tried rubbing it around with a wet paper towel hoping I could pull it small pieces apart but it’s not really working at all. It’s so caked on.
I did what you said Mike, plucking around first, and got as much as I could off from her. So. Much. Fur. LOL! Idk why I’m so amazed by this but seriously… she looks fluffy but then you go to brush her and you don’t even know where to begin. Roberta, I wanted to keep as much of her fur as possible. Boyfriend suggested having her trimmed down a bit to around Nora’s size to help maintain. We have made a regimen of brushing her daily but getting out the past three weeks of gunk is proving to be quite the challenge…
Hmm, she doesn’t have guard hairs? I just have experience with Jersey Wooly fur. Wooly has guard hairs mixed in with his wooly fur. The guard hairs help keep it from matting. I mean, yes, his fur does mat. But if he isn’t shedding, then he doesn’t require grooming more than once a week or 2 weeks. When he’s shedding, he needs to be groomed more often to make sure the fur that is (literally) sliding down doesn’t mat.
What I do is I use a hairbuster comb. I have to turn Wooly so his rear is facing me. I lift up all the fluff and start combing it out underneath. Then I gradually work my way “up”. I don’t have too much trouble with his face or tummy since the fur is short in those places. So I’m not much help there.
Hmm I wonder if their fur is like a Persian cats? My cats gets mats in the spring and fall no matter how much I brush them. I have tried several things but ultimately I have to cut out most mats. I haven’t gotten them shaved I looked into it and I got a starting quote from my vet at $138 it goes up depending on how much anesthetic they are given.I cant find a regular groomer around here that will groom a cat. I wish I could give you some helpful advice.
French angora’s, unlike the english, have an extremely dense undercoat with lots of long floof on the outside… That’s what makes grooming a challenge.
Piglet aka Lord Fluff Butt pre hair cut

and this gives you a pretty good idea of what is underneath when all the long stuff is trimmed off..

And of course the wifely seal of approval from Pepper

Lacey is one gorgeous and lucky bunn! Congrats, tanlover!!! I was fostering a wooly not too long ago and i would do it like LBJ said, with his bum towards me…lifting “chunks” of hair, i would just groom small portions and keep moving around. if there was a tangle, i would comb at the edges and eventually it would release. i dont know if their fur is the same though. good luck with her though…she is definately a cutie patootie!!
Here’s a few more of the pics I was attempting to post before!

I haven’t noticed anything like guard hairs… although it’s really hard to get her to sit still long enough unless you’re cuddling… but if you’re cuddling and interrupt with brushing… well then… not a happy bun bun! LOL. Since she was just spayed I’m trying really hard not to push it (I guess it has been five days though). And she’s healing very well.
Anyways, I did figure out this hair thing will probably be quite the fun due to one main reason. She burrows. I’ve never had a bunny actually burrow before. The Tans LOVE to dig around and fling everything everywhere but no… not this one… she digs herself UNDER the CareFresh and the hay and then keeps digging like she’s actually going further. LOL. It’s adorable but makes quite the mess. I gave her the extra large litter box today while she’s been out playing and needless to say, I lost her as she dug so far she was under everything and all I coudl see was her tail!
I REAAAAALLLLY don’t wanna trim her fur but Roberta you’re making me think it may be the easiest!!! LOLLL
Don’t worry, it’ll grow back in and you guys can keep in line properly. She is beautiful!
She is such a beauty, the most gorgeous expressive eyes…
I know it’s hard to decide to trim when their fur is so lush but it really is best for them to get those matts out and she will be more comfortable. The fur will grow back and it will be easier to maintain when you are starting fresh.
Piglet likes to show off after his haircuts and bounces around doing Na-na Binkies.
An old thread that might have some useful tips also TL:
https://binkybunny.com/FORUM/tabid/54/aft/109432/Default.aspx
Bunnytowne put up some vids in it but I didn’t check to see if they’re still available to view. She had a teddy bear lionhead Princess Ruby.
I just learnt there are “super maned” lionheads also. :p
OMG JERSEY!!!! So… I googled Teddy Bear Lionhead and she looks EXACTLY like all of them. It makes sense being an Angora/Lionhead mix why the breeder was selling her as an Angora! I think we know what she is!! The boyfriend doesn’t agree but the more I made him look at the pics the more he’s starting to agree. Which is funny because the breeder we got the Tans from said she thought she looked like a French Angora Lionhead mix!
We have similar brushes so I’ll attempt in that order and in her direction to see if I can get a lot of the crap out. It will be easier when she’s in with the others because they really don’t tear up the litter boxes because they’re the extra extra large ones so when they’re tearing around unless I don’t have enough hay in them it doesn’t get everywhere. Right now she’s still in the pet store cage healing from her incision. We started giving her run time in the x-pen whenever we are home.
She DETESTS being picked up but LOVES being cuddled! She really gets stressed when you’re going to pick her up (which I HAVE to do to get her from cage to x pen without the others seeing and to brush her!). So I’ve started giving her treats every time she is picked up to help her become accustomed to positive thoughts with being picked up. Once picked up, she’s fine. It’s just the initial pick up that she really freaks herself out. I know she was a kids bunny though so I believe he probably dropped her at some point or really terrified her a few times. Probably why the poor girl bit him! Well, good for her. I would have to and now she’s MY bunny so thank god she did take a nice bite right out of his finger!
Roberta, she DOES have gorgeous eyes. They are big and brown and beautiful! Her actual eye is small but her eyeball with the color part is quite large. We noticed her eyes also and how much expression seems to come through from them. She is a wonderful bunny. We are VERY happy with our decision to bring her home… despite not telling pretty much anyone yet except my good friends and the people I work with. Haha!
She does look like Ruby!
you need to do short strokes with a furminator or furbuster type brush. if you grab too much fur at once it’s strength will combine together like a rope (ever try pulling shrinkwrap off a pallet instead of cutting it?)
hold the brush inwards toward your thumb and just do an inch at a time, after each stroke you can just use your thumb to clear the fur out of the teeth. make sure you have a garbage can nearby,, you will likely fill it.
when plucking you want to ‘test’ how loose the hair is and you make your way along the bun move each section of fur between yourindex finger and thumb like you’re counting the money youd be paying to have someone else groom her.
Shes so gorgeous. Stop bringing home so many gorgeous buns and save some for the rest of us!!! Do you ever worry about a Cuteness Overload Coma? I think you should.
