I have a 7-8month old Female (Not fixed) Holland Lop. I took her to the vet on  Saturday because she was missing chunks of hair on her hind legs and they were red and irritated. The vet tried to take a urine sample but she had just peed all over the towels in her crate and had nothing in her. He wanted to do an xray to see if she had any stones but I can not afford it at the moment since my husband and I split up and I have to care for all our other pets and my two year old daughter. He sent us home with some antibiotics but she is still peeing all over her cage and she is very fluffy and it gets all over her! I dip her in warm water once a day to clean her off and I clean up the pee the second I see it. Her cage it cleaned thoroughly twice a day. She eats pellets once a day and is on timothy hay all day and drinks water fine. She doesnt know how to use her litter box. I have tried the corner pan and a regular cat litter box with her hay in it and she refuses to use it. She seems like she feels better she looks a lot more energetic and happy but she is still losing hair and she stinks! Should I cut the rest of her hair off her back side? Its starting to mat and smell even though I bathe her! PLEASE HELP. This is driving me insane and I can’t even let her run outside because she pees everywhere and I had to cancel her spay appointment for the fourth time now because of this. Also how will I know once she is better?

I’m sorry you are having problems with your bunny.

I don’t have any experience with urinary infections but I know there are members here that do and I’m sure they will respond.

An alternative to bathing, is a dry bath, you can use corn starch. Here’s an article

You should also talk to your vet about a barrier cream to apply to the area to provide relief and prevent infection to the skin. Someone here may have a suggestion for you.
