        I just took flower in to get spayed, and they put used string to keep it together. When I got home from work, I noticed she had chewed them all out as well as her wound was.. open. To my surprise, it wasn’t bleeding, but I called the vet right away, and they were generous enough to get Me in asap. They put some skin glue on her as well as gave me some medicine to give her orally. I noticed she also took that off soon after getting home. However, her outer (ffurry) skin is apart, she is not open like before. I am totally broke and could barely afford for her to get her other pain meds that I was not expecting. Het behavior however, seems perfectly fine, she is in a small confined cage so she does not have the option of jumping high. She is actually eating good as well as pooping. If she is going to just rip and tear at the string and skin glue, then what can I do? I never imagined it would be so hard after getting her spayed. :/

          If she keeps ripping the stiches, you may need to get a cone.
          I don’t have much other than that and that you do need to take her in if she rips out the stiches. (((((Vibes)))))

            What kind of cone though? I know most places don’t make them for rabbits.

              There are cloth cones for small animals. I’ve never had to use one on any of my rabbits, but some at the Sanctuary where I volunteer have used them. I would think that most vets have them.

                Yes, sounds like a cone is needed. You can buy them at vet or pet stores. You might want to call around. There are small sizes made for toy dogs and kittens that would most likely fit. Cones are a pain but it may be the only option to let the incision heal.

                  Or something like vet wrap around her belly though it might irritate further if gets too warm.

                  I looked after my friends bunny earlier in the year and she licked at the glue until her incision opened. It worried us both a lot at the time but it did heal up over the following weeks.

                  Some rabbits react to the stitches or glue used and can’t leave the site alone. Just keep it clean and watch for signs if infection. Heat, redness, smell, puss.
                  Sweeties scar got some whiteness around it at first that looked a bit like puss but it was just the dead skin. She was on antibiotics (but not pain meds) for a few weeks and made a full recovery.
                  Hoping the same for your Flower. {{{Healing Vibes}}}

                    Okay, that is so encouraging to hear. Thank you all so much, and I will later on post back on this as to how it goes.

                      Okay, good news, I just checked on it, and it is looking so much better. No puss or anything but almost completely healed! What a relief! When I saw her open that one day I thought she was going to bleed out right before my eyes.. I was so shaken by it, but I am so glad she is doing better, c:

                          Our bunny ripped her stitches out after being spayed! :/ I wasn’t too keen on using a cone with her, but a $200 fix later, I bought the stupid cone! We’d leave it off of her if we were going to be right by her for awhile, but at night we put it back on….let me tell you how fun that was!

                          Just a heads up, though – over the next couple of months, watch for abscesses in the general area of the wound. A few months after our bunny was mostly healed, she developed a yucky abscess that we had to mess with.

                            Okay, thank you. I will keep an eye on it. Thanks for your story, it will give me a better idea of how to go about things as she is still healing,
