There isn’t much you can do until he is neutered. As long as he isn’t marking his territory for hormonal reasons for a long time, it shouldn’t develop into a habit. Just be prepared to start litter training all over again once he is neutered and his hormones have leveled out.

Hi sodapop, my Henry stopped pooping everywhere when he was neutered, and before he had the procedure I tried everything to no avail. So maybe being neutered is the best solution? But my vet did warn me though, it’s not guaranteed. Thankfully, it did the trick for Henry. I don’t think it’s a bad habit? I really believe what everyone says – it’s hormonal, marking his territory. If you choose to have Soda done, I wish you every success in resolving your issue.

You’re lucky it’s just poop! Get ready for him to throw some pee in there, too. As has already been said, neutering should help a lot.

We had our bun neutered a little over a week ago. Before the neuter he would have the floor covered in poo after the first five minutes of being let out of his cage, if we waited another five minutes he would start to pee. He hasn’t peed outside of his litter box since he came home after the neuter, there are still some stray poos here and there. A huge improvement in such a short amount of time. Even Hubby is impressed!

Hey sodapop, Henry was 6 months old when he was booked in to be neutered, and I was guided by my vet. Some Bber’s have done it earlier, but 6 months seems to be the norm? I’d have a chat with your vet, explain your situation and current concerns and see what he recommends?
Gee…. start to spray/pee? If he does, learn to duck or keep some form of protection on hand (for me it was a pillow, cause he always sprayed us on my bed – dam bunny!). As I’m sure you know already, all buns are different with there behaviour and you may be one of the very few who’s bun doesn’t wee everywhere, but I’d say there is a good chance it will happen eventually? And if he does, trust me – you’ll know (and have your boy booked in the next day, ha ha hah!). If it’s just poop and you feel you can deal with that, cool. But if you are finding it a problem, maybe deal with it sooner rather than later? Cheers sodapop.

Our boy was 6 months and 1 week old when he was neutered. He started marking with poo when he was around 4-5 months old, then gradually started peeing as well. At first he would just sit and pee in one spot, which I thought was bad enough… Then he turned it up a notch and started spraying while running/binkying through the room. It was a nightmare to clean up because there were little drops of pee everywhere! It was hard to see on the carpet, so we never knew he had done anything until someone actually stepped in it.

How bad the behavior gets depends on each individual rabbit, hopefully your bun won’t get too crazy.

You can do it sooner than 6 mo. Their little jewels just need to be down is all.
