I made a topic about this before but It didn’t really cover what I wanted

I Have a (just) 4 Month old mixed breed male rabbit named Storm, and I was wondering when should I get him neutered? I have noticed some(not very much)bad behavior, like biting my finger nail, and clawing my bed and rug, and a little more poop out of the litter box then I wold want.

He’s on the smaller side of rabbits, I think he’s a Dwarf/Lop mix (with his 1 ear up and 1 down)

Then soonest time I would be able to get him neutered is probably in 2 weeks, but should I wait another month? 1 1/2 months 2 months? There is only one (rabbit) vet near me which is 30min  away and it will cost $125 dollars (it’s either that or 50min away for $300)

        please reply!

The sooner the better in my opinion before any undesirable behaviors could start. I always did my males as soon as their testicles dropped.

Did your vet give you any idea what they prefer? My vet told me he would prefer to wait until six months to neuter unless it was urgent (kept with a female bunny or really terrible behaviours). I was lucky though, my bun didn’t get too hormonal!

my vet told me to wait to see what his personality is like. he’s about 7 months old now and hasn’t displayed any negative behaviors like marking or anything super territorial/hormonal so I’ve opted to wait. he’s such a lover right now so I don’t want to put any undue stress on him until behavior becomes an issue. I’ll probably do it after the new year, if not wait longer. That being said, I don’t plan on getting another rabbit for quite a while. If you do, or your bunny is particularly destructive or territorial I’d do it as soon as you can.

Hi Abby Gunn! My Henry turned out to be a horror constantly spraying my bed so I ‘had’ to have it done! It’s worked a treat (we like him again now, lol). My vet suggested that 6 months of age was a good time to have the procedure. As suggested above, I’d sus the vet out and see what age he recommends? All the best to you and Storm. Cheers.
