I need some opinions. I have a bonded trio with declining litter box habits. All the rabbits are spayed/neutered. The trio consists of two mature ladies, ages approx. 11 and 12, and one boy approx. age 3-4 (all rescues). They have been living together as a bonded trio for almost 2 years.
When we first moved the buns were confined but free-range to just the bedroom, with one litter box, which was working fine. We have since opened their space to included our tiny living room. The buns had great litter habits for their first month or so, but now pee everywhere, and poop like it is going out of style. I added in 2 additional litter boxes (3 total), moved furniture around, bought new litter boxes, gave them new toys and the peeing has only gotten worse. We change their litter every day.
I am also 8 months pregnant and was thinking that maybe something in my pregnancy has triggered the peeing outside of the boxes. My buns are here to stay, but it would be lovely if I could have people over without my house smelling like rabbit urine, or having to sweep poops up every few hours. The peeing is only happening in the bedroom (carpet) and not in the living room (hardwood floor).
Does anyone have any suggestions, comments, words of wisdom?
