Hoping I can get some opinions on what would be easier for my rabbit.  I’m going on vacation for 2 weeks next month and I’m not sure what would cause the least amount of stress for Ziggy:

         – I could bring him to my mother’s to stay for the 2 wks.  But there is also a cat there.

        – Or my mother can come by to my place every 2nd day to make sure he’s got food & water.

I’m just worried that moving him might be too stressful, but leaving him alone might stress him out as well.  If I left him home he would be in a bunny proof room so he wouldn’t be confined to his cage.

Could you stay with her for a few days before the trip and take him over early, that way you can be there and bring his familiar smelling stuff and get him acquainted with the cat before you leave? I wouldn’t want to leave my bun unsupervised for over 24 hours at regular intervals, since even an upset tummy if left that long can become fatal. If she was checking daily, that would be one thing, but I think staying with your mom might be best.

Your mothers – I don’t think the cat will be a problem. Every other day is not adequate.

The most you’d really want him to be left is 24 hours. We just went away for the weekend. I fed her Friday afternoon, my friend came by Saturday afternoon, we were home Sunday afternoon. I would take the bun with you, make sure you have a cage for him to keep him safe.

Agree with the others – take him with you. A lot can happen health wise to a bunny in 24 hours, much less 48. Better to be safe than sorry! Not to mention, if he gets fed pellets once a day… he’ll need to be fed that amount daily. Giving him twice the amount will only cause him to eat them all in one sitting rather than over the two days.

I vote your mom’s house I would take your bunny over for a dry run first-have him stay one day and night-that way he’ll get used to it there, and if your mom has any questions or anything arises you are in town and closeby to answer and help
