Uhm. So, my rabbits have over the last few months decided to be _really_ hungry. A huge salad that used to take them a few goes to finish now is devoured in minutes, with them looking for more. A big pile of hay barely lasts half a day. Their pellets last a few minutes. If they aren’t fed every couple of hours (so now I have to spread their pellets out into 5-6 meals) they start eating anything in sight like goats.

It’s colder this year than it has been before, do rabbits usually like stock up fat for winter? Or should I be taking them in for a fecal? I can’t imagine they’d get worms living inside though. o.O They aren’t gaining weight since I am spreading the food out rather than upping it, but they are IMPOSSIBLE to fill up!

All of the animals were psycho where I work this fall. Everyone was hungry and I assume it is because they want to fatten up. Maybe they think it’s going to be a cold winter? Anyway, I can see that as a possibility for your rabbits. Something may have signaled to them that they needed to EAT. If it was worms, I would think they would be losing weight despite eating normally. But if you’re concerned, you can always ask the vet.

My bunnies do the same thing. My kamdyn will eat all his pellets within a few hours and sunshine will graze all day long. Kamdyn will eat his veggies like he hasn’t eatin in 6 months and sunshine just grazes. Its different personalities.

Umm yeah mine are little psychos lately too. Sally, litterely grabs the entire food bowl and yanks it away from Harley when they are eating pellets. They each take turns grabbing the bowl from one another and end up spilling the whole darn bowl of pellets everywhere. They didn’t used to do this so looks like I’m going to need a second bowl….

Heh, well, at least it’s not just mine that have shifted this fall. They’ve been here 3? years now and never gone this psycho. But, it is MUCH colder this year than it has been since I got them. It’s already dipping into freezing territory and has been since October, whereas last year it didn’t start getting cold until near December. I closed the pellet bag and left it by the door (usually safe) but they chewed open the zip seal and sat there gorging away until I moved it. o.O lol I had to baby gate lock down the pellets.

I have definitely seen an increase in hay consumption as the weather gets colder. I’m filling up hay twice a day now, when I was only filling it up every day and a half during the summer.

Ever notice the more you feed them (& more regularly) the more starving they act?

Mine are like this all year round! I was surprised when I got them that they’re far greedier than dogs (my dogs thought the world revolved around dinner). If I try and sit down to eat a sandwich or something they all climb onto my lap and will be trying to climb up my front to get to it haha. I left a plate of chicken on my bed the other day thinking “it’s chicken, they’re rabbits, it’s fine!” But nope. Came back to Rufus sat in the middle of the plate helping himself!

Lol ! Ew. I think I’d have a mild freak out at that but still have to laugh.

Haha. I’d just like to add that I didn’t eat said chicken after the rabbit had been sat in it!
