My rabbit, a holland lop, before never liked being carried. But suddenly he has been cuddling up to our legs and plopping himself on our laps requesting to pet him. So, I tried picking him up-he did not protest! So now he litterally jumps onto our laps when we are sitting on the couch and he cuddles into our arms. He likes it when I craddle him like a baby and he purrs while doing so. After I carry him, he always licks my hands and does a few weird jumps in the air. Plus, last night, when I fell asleep on the couch, I found him cuddled beside me.
Is this normal? He just turned 2 and I’ve had him since he was 3 months old.

The jumps in the air – ‘binkies’! How wonderful, that’s your bun saying I’m soooo happy! Cuddling – I AM SO JEALOUS!!!!! How lucky you are – Enjoy!!! Obviously he is finally trusting of you and loves you lots. (again, so jealous – lol….).

I’m not trying to be Debbie Downer here and really hope this isn’t the case, but it seems like a drastic change to me. It could be that he is just mellowing out and evolving with age and such. But with such a drastic and sudden change a vet visit couldn’t hurt…just a thought. Sometimes buns will be way more affectionate than normal when they are looking for us to take care of them in some way. Again, it could be nothing but if he hasn’t been to the vet this year it might not be a bad idea.
