So I’ve had Trigger for about 6 months now and he’s great but randomly thumps…… And does it mostly in my bedroom or when he’s playing behind the couch.
He is never aggressive and loves new people…. And I’m pretty sure he has a licking fetish. I think he thumps for attention, he has free roam of the house when I’m home. Some nights I’ll leave him out if he’s sleeping behind the couch….. He will come into my bedroom about 6am and thump and run a 100mph underneath the bed. The bed is to high form him to jump up onto….but if I call his name he will stand up and put his paws up onto the bed. My question is has any one heard of some thing like this seems like the thumping is just for attention and not a defensive thing. Second thing he sheds about every three to four weeks and his coat will changes colors, its a very even slow shed. He has gone from a dusty gray to almost all white, to white with two gray spots on his hind legs, now he back to a dusty gray with a distinct line that goes to all white. The breeder I got him from says she’s never seen such a thing. Trigger apears very heathy and happy he goes the get nurtured in a few weeks. Just curious if any one has encountered any thing like that. Trigger is a pure breed holland lop sable point with papers.

Do you have any pics of the colour changes? I’d be interested to see.

Thumping is usually the result of a bunny hearing something they are nervous about. In the wild, bunnies thump to warn others of incoming danger. Some domestic buns, however, seem to thump in excitement and it will often be accompanied by a zoom or binky.

I’d upload some pics but BB doesn’t seem to like my safari browser……I’d be interested to see how many people have buns that seem to thump for fun. Trigger does zoom and binky that’s for sure. But the color changes are odd that’s for sure.. I wouldn’t trade the little guy for any thing he’s great, but I do have to give credit where credit is due the breeder I got him from was great Nicola from Lops on the Lake in Lake City, Mn. She has show quality and pet quality buns and their temperment is great.
