My baby girl rabbit (fixed end of July) has developed a morning behaviour that developed further today. When I try to leave for work she runs after me and sprints before me whilst I'm getting ready, she grunts a lot and then follows me to the door and sits on my shoes. Before today a tap on the bum and she would be off them, but today she nipped at my ankle and then jumped off! I was shocked. Any ideas what she is trying to tell me? In the evening she is really affectionate and I never get grunting only nudges for strokes – is she just not a morning person?!

She doesn’t want you to leave. Can you distract her by giving her something to keep her busy, like hiding a treat in a toilet paper roll stuffed with hay, or something else she likes? Make your getting ready to leave a thing she associates with treats and fun rather than “Mommy is leaving”.

Good Idea Cheri, that is what I was thinking too. She clearly loves you and is mad you are leaving. I normally give mine his salad right before I leave, so he is distracted while he has his whole face in his greens LOL.

Aw! Thank you for all the hints, I now feel will feel even more guilty for leaving! – I will try the distraction route and see if that works out better for us!

If you bunny is a morning cuddler maybe you can try to work 10 or 15 minutes into you schedule to sit and pet her or play with her. Bunnies are so active early in the morning and she probably bored and so excited that her human is finally awake but then your promptly leave… of course she’s a little annoyed with you ^^

My bunny is like this too, she expects some bonding time as soon as my alarm goes off in the morning (free roam bunny so she lets herself in bed with me) and she gets rather rude about it if I fall back asleep or really do anything that doesn’t fall into the category of grooming her majesty. I got to sport a lovely scratch on my hand all day today because I had the audacity to try to check my phone before I doted on her highness… *eye roll*

But yes, try to give her a bit of your attention and some treats before you run off to work.
