        Hello all..

So my bunny has been having symptoms of a urinary tract infection as there would be small wet leakages/puddles underneath him whether he'd be licking me or just sniffing. This was going on for a good couple of weeks so I was advised to take him to the vets and they prescribed him some antibiotics (bearing in mind he was still acting his normal self, eating drinking normally and didn't show any signs of feeling in discomfort/pain when the vet was having a feel). Anyway he had his antibiotics but it wasn't working and the puddles were still happening. I did a urine sample and got told his urine was absolutely fine, perfectly hyrdated and really healthy normal urine + no blood or anything like that in it either so in other words…there's nothing wrong with my bunny!!

So WHAT is going on with him?! He's still having this puddles and it is quite smelly in that area down there now all around his tail etc and just by his penis/wee hole it's the smelliest and is a really sort of manky yellowy colour (build up of drips I assume). I managed to bathe him today whilst letting him chomp on some broccoli and I just washed around his backside area but I don't think it did alot as I just used warm water (no soap or anything as not sure what I'd be allowed to use for him) but all in all I want him to stop having this puddle leakage type things so his bottom area isn't smelling as he is such a clean bunny normally.

We have moved house (been here since mid Aug) so maybe it is behavioural but I just want to try and get a better understanding or know if the vet is talking the truth or if there maybe something else wrong? He's eating/drinking normally, acting normal…just bizarre. Any feedback/advice would be really helpful.

          I’m bumping this.

I don’t know :/ It seems like a strange “behavioral issue” to suddenly develop in a neutered male over a year old. It sounds medical to me but I do not have any experience with UI issues in bunnies. Hopefully someone else with more experience can give you advice on the tests that have been done and offer some recommendations.

I’m not sure if you’ve seen this article by Dana Krempels. It might give you some ideas on what possible causes can be and what to ask your vet:
