Hi!
I’ve recently adopted two little buns, I’ve had bunnies in the past but they were rescue animals so this is the first time I’ve had two from such a young age.
They are almost 11 weeks, both mini lops and both on the tiny side. They are living indoors but I’m introducing them to their new home gradually because I didn’t want to overwhelm them. At the moment they are in their hutch when there’s no one there to watch them and spend playtime in a sort of playpen (they are so tiny at the moment I don’t want to run the risk of them getting curious and trapped somewhere whilst they’re playing!)
A few days ago my little buck, Pascal, discovered he can bounce an man does he love it! It’s lovely they have settled in so fast, but I an worried Pascal is going to hurt himself – Their hutch is huge, they can’t even see out of the top floor without standing on their hind legs but Pascal can launch himself right to the top of it! I’m concerned that he is going to hurt himself because he doesn’t seem to land from these jumps, just falls on his back. I’m also worried that if I open up the top of the hutch he might be able to jump out and then he will have an even bigger fall.
I don’t want to stop him playing but I’m worried for his safety, so I was wondering, will he eventually learn there’s a difference between things he can jump on like windowsills, and then dangerous drops?
Thanks!
