  I know there are a few regular Australian members on here, so my question is directed to them, or anyone who may know the answer to this question really.
  
  Question: what product is the Australian name for Simethicone? Or what gas drops do fellow Australians use for your buns when they have gas? I’m looking for product names please.
  
  I really need to get around to creating that much needed bun emergency kit! And i’m finding that when Chester has gas (like at the moment – 9:50pm), chemists are closed so I have nothing to give except what I usually do when he has gas (no medicine, but I give tummy rubs, fluids via oral syringe, mushed up food via syringe etc). So I really need to set up my emergency kit. Pronto, if this happens again, which of course is likely.
  
  Also, Critical Care. I know it is by prescription here in Oz, but is there any other way of obtaining it without one? Simply because, vets are closed at this time, come morning Chester is usually back to his normal self without the need for a vet visit. But I know Critical Care is pretty important to have on had. So what is the best way of going about obtaining this product?
  
  My little Chester seems to have problems with gas at least once or twice a year, and it pains me to see my little fluff ball in pain

  Infacol Wind Drops…it contains Simethicone which is the active ingredient.

  You can buy Infacol in the supermarket Chester’s Mom. In the baby aisle.
  It’s stronger (100mg/ml) then other commonly suggested brands in rabbit articles. I tend to use 0.4mls each time for 2kg rabbit.
  
  De-Gas capsules is another. Each capsule is 100mg. You’d have to squirt out the contents the syringe up what you need. You could possibly get these in a 24hr service station if need something immediately.
  ETA: Mylanta Gas softgels is possibly another option.
  
  I’m not certain about criti care being prescription only. Can you ask to but over the counter at your vet?
  I’m pretty sure some pet stores in my state (SA) stock it also. I’m happy to post some to you if you find it hard to get hold of.

  Thanks jerseygirl, very helpful information to have on all these brand names! Chester is 1.6kgs so that dosage still applies to him, yes?
  
  I’m going to start stocking my emergency bun kit soon. Chester’s gas episode last night didn’t last long (thankfully). The tummy massage and syringed water orally helped.
  
  In regards of CC, my regular vet doesn’t stock it. Last time when Chester had a very bad case of gas, I took him to the vet. He was eating by the time he was at the vet, which was good. The normal rabbit vet wasn’t there when I took him in, but I did ask the vet on hand about CC, but he simply said to me that Chester wasn’t at that stage. I wasn’t too happy with his response. But anyway, they don’t stock it. A vet clinic that I drive past on the way to uni stocks it, so I’m going to drop by and see what they say about it. Thanks jerseygirl, if I’m still having problems obtaining CC, I’ll let you know

  I think I was charged $22 for a bag at the vet.
  
  I also keep the fine hay and grind it with some pellets as an alternative.
  
  On simethicone for rabbits, the dosage I’ve read suggested is 1-2mls of the 20mg/ml strength formula.
  The equivalent using Infacol is 0.2-0.4mls. The articles don’t mention weight.
  
  If me, I’d probably give the higher dose first, then a lesser one in the next hour if required. It’s really up to you though & if you think it’s slight discomfort or something more worrisome.
  It’s considered pretty safe and doses aren’t super specific.
