My flemmie, Jo-Jo was spayed today. Since it was done at my hubby’s vet practice, and hubby had a half day today, Jo came home with him almost immediately after the surgery. When she got home, rather than try to pull her out of the cat carrier, I simply put it on the floor next to her cage, opened the door and gently petted her woozy widdle head. After 20 minutes or so she seemed to wake up enough to know she wanted to be out of the carrier and made a pathetic attempt to kind of “seal flop” out onto the floor and tried to flop / roll toward her cage. This, of course, was HEARTBREAKING, so I gently scooped her up and plunked her onto her doggy bed in her cage. She pretty much passed out on her face like a drunk. (See pic). I let her sleep it off. This was at 1:30. It’s now 7:50 and, though she has changed positions into a kind of loose meatloaf, she hasn’t left her bed yet.
I put a plate of wet greens next to her bed, which she sniffed, but didn’t eat, so I put a raisin ( her bunny crack!) to her lips and she ate it but did not want another. Doc gave her sub-q fluids and pain meds before she came home, and hub will give her a pain med injection soon, but I just feel so bad for her. She’s clearly in a great deal of pain, has her belly shaved and a really big incision. (Doc said she has a really big uterus, whatever that means).
Will keep my binky friends posted on her progress.
