Hi everybody! So just a quick question about cage size and excersise time.
Dusty is a 3lb Dwarf/Lionhead mix bunny. He lives in an 8 sq ft cage (link to product included)

He has a hay box, not a rack, a shelf, tons of toys that he loves, a litter box, and an eating area (on top of the shelf). He is able to flop in all directions without being cramped or touching any walls and never exhibits any signs of boredom.
Is this an adequate cage?
He is let out of his cage for 6-8 hours a day. In the morning before I go to school he gets an hour of playtime (his excersise area is the whole first floor of my house and he occsionally finds himself on the (also bunny proofed) second floor, so he has tons of room to run around and binky
). His playtime in the morning ends when he hops back into his cage for breakfast. I don’t put him in, he just knows when he’s hungry he hops back in and sits on his shelf so mommy can serve him! He then rests in his cage with about uuntil 3:45 when I get home from school and he is out of his cage from then until 10 to 11 at night. Again, I don’t put him back in his cage, he hops back in for dinner.
He seems to like his cage and always returns there willingly and of his own accord.
One last question that’s been bugging me- do bunnies need a bunny friend? Can Dusty live a long, happy life with me (who he gets at least 4-5 hours total of direct, one on one play time with, the rest of his playtime he just bounces around and plays with toys) or will he be lonely? I don’t have the room or time or money for a second bunny. Dusty also has his friend, Pepper the mini Schnauzer who he plays with and he loves my dad who plays with him as well.
I just want Dusty to be happy and healthy
so thanks!
