If everyone is sick of me already, I apologize. I just want to be sure I’m doing the best for my bunny and you all seem to know what you’re doing so I find it better than a google search.

I’ve had Biddy about a week now and she’s pretty happy and well adjusted. But I was just wondering if everyone thinks it’s too soon to bring her somewhere else for a few nights? My parents want me to visit for a weekend, and I havne’t seen them in a while so I would love to. But my roommate will be out of town for that weekend so there will be no one to watch Biddy. So either I bring her along with me or I postpone the visit.

If I did bring her she would have her own room for her cage in the basement where I’d be sleeping., I’d definitely let her roam around the room for a few hours each day. There wouldn’t be any commotion to scare her, and my parents do have a few small dogs but they aren’t allowed in the basement so they likely wouldn’t even know there was a bunny there. She would be safe and well looked after. I’m just worried another sudden environment change, even if only for a few days, might stress her out. That’s the last thing I want to do, especially since she settled in so nicely in my own house.

Any opinion would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Honestly, it won’t matter if you have her for a week, a year, or ten years… Any change of location is going to be stressful for at least the first day. But that isn’t a good enough reason in my mind to forego small weekend trips. I’m guessing you’ll be spending weekends at your parents’ house throughout your rabbit’s life, so I don’t see anything wrong with introducing her to this early on.

The only concerns would be the dogs, but you say that they don’t go down there, and possibly the length of car trip. If it’s longer than a couple hours, for a weekend, it might not be worth the stress.

So I brought Biddy along with me to my parents for the weekend, and aside from some initial nervousness it went pretty well! She seemed to really like my mom, and my mom loves pretty much any furry critter so they got along just fine. Unfortunately my dad was doing some noisy renovations for most of the day so I think Biddy got a little nervous from all the noise, but she was easy enough to calm down. All in all, success!

Here she is lounging on the edge of my bed last night! She’s so awesome.

Yay! Glad it went well! I think some bunnies take to new locations better than others, and it sounds like she was pretty relaxed about it.
