  I’ve had Ox for a few months now and this is the first full on molt I’ve ever had to experience. So I was wondering, is there any tips/products you guys can give me or suggest so that I’m able to help him out with this molt? And I’d especially appreciate tips that cater more to long haired rabbits as well. I really want to reduce the amount of hair he’s digesting as well as prevent any mats that can occur during shedding.

  Hairbuster comb is nice. It took awhile for Wooly to get used to the “tugging” since it tugs out the loose fur. You have to start at the ends of the fur and work your way in.

  do frequent short strokes and clear the comb frequently.
  longhairs are so much more fun to brush, as the fur doesnt fly all over the place. I could do jersey woolies & satin angoras all day.
  you can also usually get a lot of the loose undercoat out with a light pre-brush plucking session, especially around the base of the tail where it tends to clump first.

  Save the molted fur and take up spinning.

  I looked up the hairbuster, it looks good. I’ll probably end up getting it, but in the meantime I’ve just been using the shedender that I found stashed in a drawer. I got it for my dog years ago but it didn’t work out for her.
  
  Mike, Ox’s hair goes everywhere when I pet him. I was petting him last night and it was snowing hair. But brushing isn’t as messy as pets. I love plucking Ox’s hair, I would do it for hours if my boy let me. I’ll be sure to focus around his tail area. When I first got him he had a giant mat around that area that had to be shaved out by the vet, I really don’t want that to happen again.
  
  Eepster, I don’t think I have the patience for spinning. Although, a sweater or scarf made of Ox/Tribble hair would be awesome. I was just going to put it outside when Spring rolls around again, birds adore pet hair for their nests. I can’t ever bring myself to throw their hair out.
