If you’re going to do a dog crate, can you use the space above for storage? Either bins or those plastic storage drawers… Or if you want something more decorative, maybe nice woven baskets.

Pellets will need to be in an airtight container. I use a sterilite container that fits a ten pound bag perfectly.

Hay should be stored in a box, but not something airtight. I just use a cardboard box, but I have seen people use wicker hampers for a more “finished” look.

Other than that, you’ll need a miscellaneous box for nail clippers, brushes, toys, etc…

The 1st picture is about 1 foot long, half a foot wide, and 2 feet high. Its pretty tiny and houses all the essentials.
The 2nd picture are about 2 feet long, a foot wide, and half a foot tall, or less, and could easily fit under a bed!

I also thought the space above the crate or under the bed good options. Under bed crates will double as rabbit proofing if you don’t want your rabbit going under the bed.

Alternatively, you could get furniture (table or drawers) that the entire dog crate could sit on top of. You would need a ramp for bunny to come and go to its home but many of them like to climb and be up where they can survey the room.

I once saw a bed frame set up on top of 4 chests of drawers. There was space between them that was maze-like. I immediediately thought how much a bunny would love that!

This is not the one I’d originally seen but it will have to do. In this one, the space between is boarded up. The space would be cross shaped if left open. A nice little nook but maybe a curse if a rabbit wouldn’t come out.

I like the idea of the under-the-bed containers doubling as rabbit proofing too.  Here is what I’ve done to utilize the space the cage uses:

I will say… it seems I’m still moving things around, trying to find that “exactly right” setup, already it looks different than these pics.  I’m sure you will find a way that works for you… then arrange and re-arrange too!

^Where do you buy that fencing to go around the cage? I’ve currently got half my room cordoned off with chicken wire stapled to the walls. It’s really not the best look Something like that would be preferable!

It looks like it’s an xpen, also known as a puppy exercise pen. Pet stores, walmart, online, etc. Sells them.

It’s a learning process as you go lol! Trust me, you WILL get creative on tidy storage. There will be lots of changing and moving things around week by week as you come up with an even better idea. I must add its actually alot of fun learning what set up works for you because when that light bulb goes off its so exciting executing the plan! And then testing it out until one day you think of AN EVEN BETTER IDEA!

Yes it’s an xpen. The panel directly attached to the cage on the right side is the divider from the crate. If you look closely you can see it’s about 6 inches shorter than the rest. I just zip-tied that in place, for the added space. I live a good distance away from… well, everything… so I got mine online from Petco. I originally was going to use mini-grid panels, but the cost of shipping them was the same as the grids themselves, whereas I could get the xpen with free shipping. There are several places that will do free shipping, so you can keep that in mind as an option if you can’t find one locally.

Pam (one of the forum leaders) has used an armoire for storage. With doors, you can hide the clutter… I’ll see if I can round up a pic.

Ohh ok. Do the panels come apart, like if I bought one would I be able to set it up as a wall rather than a pen? I live in the UK and I’m pretty sure it’s an American brand but I’ve found similar things on eBay that I’ll look into.

Yes, that one has a removable pin by the door panel. I didn’t use that one, instead I used a screwdriver to pry apart the two metal clips that holds them altogether. You’d probably have to think about support on the ends if you plan on using it as a wall, since it’s free-standing. There are 8 panels in mine, 2 feet wide each, so you could incorporate it in any shape fitting that.

I live in an apartment too. I have a cage + pet pen set up for both bunnies and for their other stuff I have a set of pine shelves, the top one is for food, hay, bedding, and equipment like grooming brushes and scales etc. The middle shelf is the feeding station where I prepare everything, the bottom shelves are where I let the bunnies play. So far, it all fits OK and I’ve realised, I actually have enough room to get quite a few more bunnies if I wanted to and could afford them
