  Hi there my friend has a rat and they were looking to build her a homemade cage but they don’t don’t have a whole lot of money to spend. I was wondering if anyone had a rat or knew of someone with a rat that had built a very inexpensive homemade cage? thanks

  I’m from Pittsburgh and I know we have a great rat lovers club. They are very rat-savvy (obviously) and all obsessed with rats. I’ve met that at small animal parties around the city. I would send them an e-mail and ask them for your friend – I bet they will have a lot more adequate advice.

  I used to own 5 rats, although I never built my own cage I know rats love space and lots of things to play with and chew in their cage. I also know that rats are very social animals and need to have another rattie friend. A single rat won’t live as long and will be prone to depression and loneliness.
