  Hi, I am 22 and got my house bun just under a year ago. She currently lives with me and my partner as spoilt as she wants in our living room in a cage when we are asleep/out and free to roam when we are home.
  
  We have just sold our flat and currently have nowhere to go, until the end of Oct, when we will move into a house that we are buying.
  
  My brother and sis in law kindly said that we can go and stay them (as of next week) but despite my worried comments, say that my bun must be kept in a garage.
  
  She currently lives in a cage rather than a hutch so this wont keep out the draught- does anyone know what i can do to make her as snug as possible? I am prepared to go and get everything today so i am ready for it.
  
  Another issue that i had was that she couldnt be left in a garage with cars (due to fumes)- i have told my brother this and my partner to keep his motorbike outside as i am not putting them in there with her- i would seriously resent anyone that caused or contributed (unwillingly) to her death- especially after i had educated them otherwise!
  
  What i hate is that they have a dog and wouldnt allow my bun to be kept in the spare room upstairs because it would ‘keep them and the dog up’ (!) I cant really argue this because they are kind enough to have us stay….
  
  But i would never have asked them to do that if they had a bun in similar circumstances. How would they/ or their dog like being kept in a dark, damp garage. If it was winter i just would have politely declined their offer but it is only up until the end of Oct so it shouldnt be too cold by then should it?
  
  I hate ignorance and i researched long about how to look after a rabbit. People just assume she will get through anything because of the way the majortiy of people treat them

  Does it get cold where you live? You could put a thick quilt or something over the cage (the back and 2 sides, leaving the front open) when it’s chilly. Just make sure bunny is not able to haul pieces of it in and chew it.
  
  You are right to be concerned about the fumes. Make sure that they are willing to not put any vehicles in there while bunny is living there.
  
  This is a less than ideal situation, but if you have no choice, you will have to make the best of it. And since it’s only temporary, your bun will most likely be fine. Just make sure to still give lots of love and attention.

  Make sure you put something insulating underneath the cage or inside the cage as a bottom layer for her to sit on (straw is a good insulator). As Bear Grylls would say: “One layer on the bottom is worth two on top!” Is the cage going to be on the ground or up on a table or something like that? How cold does it get in your area?
  
  I’m very sorry they’re making you put her in the garage. I understand that a lot of people are uneducated about bunny care and I don’t blame them for that, but they should still know that making any animal stay in a garage is wrong. Especially if there’s a guestroom available.

  Hi littlepuffytail and hazel, many thanks for your replies. I really appreciate your help.
  I’m from the south of the uk so it shouldn’t be to cold here by October (I hope), winter normally doesn’t kick in properly until late Nov and well into the new year.
  I will continue give her lots of love and attention- she’s so cute- how could I not! 🙂 also I will be feeling extra guilty for her being in the dark I will try to let her out as much as possible.
  I will try the duvet over her cage, and I will try to find a table to put her on, with a blanket underneath, if I can’t get hold of a table, would putting bricks underneath the cage help, as it is not directly on the ground?
  I have just bought a little hidey den which she can go into if she is feeling scared in a new environment (at the moment, she is deliberately NOT sitting in it but right next to it lol!)
  I am just worrying because I know how sensitive these little buns are- like you said- I just need to make the best of a bad situation.
