  My dog chased and attacked my rabbit, Angel, but when my sister came out and checked him, he said he wasn’t bleeding anywhere, but was shaking a lot. Several hours later he started acting a little weird. I put him on the floor, thinking he would run around like he always did, but he just jumped back into his cage. I left the door open for hours, but he just stayed in there. I gave him treats and petted him, but he still did nothing. Normally his treats would be gone within ten minutes, but it’s been three days and they’re still there. This morning I felt his ears, and they were really cold compared to their usual warmth, and he started chattering his teeth when I wasn’t even petting him. I finally assumed he was sick and alerted my family members, but after calling several vets she said that it was probably some sort of defense mechanism, but I’m still very worried about my little Angel. I love him so much, and I would be broken without him…

  You need to bring him to the vet for a physical exam as soon as possible!

  I agree that he needs to be examined by a vet. Who said it was a fear response, one of the vets or your sister?

  Rabbits hide injury really well so he may have broken bones or bad bruising and you wouldn’t know so he needs to go to the vet ASAP. If he’s physically fine they can treat him for shock.
  
  If he isn’t eating he could go into GI status too.
  
  It is important that the dog doesn’t get near this rabbit again as they can get heart failure from stress alone!

  I’m not sure who you said thought it was some sort of defense mechanism, but if it was a vet, find a different one to bring him in to see. Any vet who heard this would instruct you to come right in. Rabbits are very fragile and if they show any symptoms of anything not normal, they don’t have long to be treated. It’s not like a cat or dog where you can wait and see. Please go right in to see a vet.
