Well, I am still trying to clip Ashe’s nails at home. She won’t even let me touch her feet right now, I can’t get her into a bunny burrito, and she is now super angry at me.
I tried to clip Moogle’s nails for the first time today, just to see how it went, and he just sat there and let me do it LOL. I gave him some arugula for being such a good boy. (His nails didn’t really need trimmed, but I’m starting early to make sure I don’t end up with another rabbit that has no experience with it.)
I do not want to be too assertive with Ashe because she is an aggressive rabbit that we have been working with FOREVER to gain her trust. She is finally to the point where she loves to be pet and will even hop in your lap when she feels like it, but if you do something she doesn’t like, she will try to charge at you… So I am at a loss on what I should do with her.
I am currently in the process of finding a new rabbit vet because my other vet has trouble handling her and has insisted that I trim her nails at home lol. I think Ashe knows when ppl are nervous… and I am definitely nervous when it comes to clipping nails. I have tried the treats/not picking her up method. She is fine until I touch her feet WITH the clippers in my hand. If I touch her feet without them in my hand she is fine. And on top of all this, she is molting right now…. so she is VERY grumpy in general and tries to nip me if I touch her belly/feet area.
SO… my rabbits are COMPLETE opposites, and I have no idea how to deal with nail clipping now that the vet won’t even do it!
